The Cowboys should sign Keenum, and let Dak decide what to do next

What does this have to do with what I asked or posted earlier?

You made the comment that Jerry did not do that with QB in the past and yet the situation is different given several high profile contracts that is what makes it different. You are not just trying to sign a guy like Romo, he was also handing out league high deals to Zeke and Lawrence and knows he has Cooper, Byron Jones as well as Dak. When Troy was up for a deal FA and cap was not as much in play as it is now and only QB that Jerry has paid out big was Romo but not with as many other high profile deals within a years time.

great point. brady, Rodgers, mahomes, etc......all had weapons, coaching and support. its what they accomplished when they had those things.

Brees has 1 SB that was a while back, Rodgers also been a while but it was not just them it was guys around them as well. Mahomes this past season he had a lot of great weapons with speed to burn, he was not out there doing it alone. I'm not trying to compare Dak to any of these guys but will say they all need help and when they do not get it they don't make it to SB

you got caught with your pants down....you did say you love Taysom hill, in your previous post you had rattled a bunch of other QBs, but given Taysom Hill in your opinion was a viable option, you had to go back and make a post about it.

now you are trying to spin out of it, by making up other bullshiet….

nothing was cherry picked....it was clear as to your intentions....

LOL

spin spin spin spin spin

spppppiiiinnnn spppinnnn spppiiiinnn

full spin mode

Your story, you tell it but that's not true. Just read the thread. It can not be more clear.

you cant' run a franchise that way, but you run a franchise by brining in and putting in a gadget guy as the starting QB...AWSOME....LOL

No, I didn't say that. I clearly said that he would be a developmental guy if we were unable to draft a QB this year. He would be an option to bring in. I never said bring him in as the primary replacement or Vet backup. I mean, come on. Are you just gonna lie about what's in the thread or what?

Clearly it's different. I made that point as well. But so what, the difference is not that there are a lot of guys we have to sign now as opposed to then. We had to sign guys then as well and we didn't sign all of them. The situation is not different. If Jerry believed that Dak was a QB who could transcend talent, he would pay him whatever and just go out and sign a bunch of mid level WRs and same with RB. We aren't doing that. Instead, we are shelling out big time contracts. This, to me, suggest that Jerry does not believe Dak is one of the generational talents.

That's my opinion on this.

The Cowboys should get Case Keenum and give him a four year deal.
He would be an upgrade immediately, and at worst would solidify the Cowboys at quarterback if they do eventually sign Dak.
Phillip Rivers is also available, and is an upgrade.
Ryan Tannehill is available.
The Cowboys don't have to be in this soap opera with a guy who went 8-8 but wants to be paid like he is a proven winner.
Signing a veteran like Keenum- who has been a winner- would likely change Dak's attitude towards a new contract.
But I believe that the Cowboys would make it to the NFC Championship game next year with a guy like Keenum under center.
These kinds of comments are absolutely ridiculous. Why is it a problem for a brother to get his money?
Where was the outrage when Goff, Wentz, Jimmy G, etc. got their deals? Oh I forgot they didn't have to ask for their deals. They were volunteered their money.
I know why.............

That’s why most click on these. And you must give it to him. This one was very dumb.

Yeah, he has definitely achieved a Russell Wilson level of dumb but he has a shot at the Tom Brady GOAT level of stupidity. The potential is there, lets see how it plays out on the field.

  • None of those three play for Dallas.
  • All three have been to a Super Bowl.
  • Wentz outplayed Prescott to win the NFC East this past season with most of his team injured.
  • Dak has struggled to win consistently in the weakest division in the NFL.
  • Dak has struggled vs teams with winning records, but plays well against weak opponents.
  • Dak has not proven that he can be relied on to make the team better by his leadership.
  • Dak is the same quarterback he was in college; getting erratic when he is pressured.
If any of those are the reason(s) you were thinking of, you might be right.
But if you're implying what I think you are implying, that is certainly no reason to pay big money to a guy, just to make you feel like it's fair.
Maybe if he could play well enough to win the East when it only would've taken eight wins it might not be a problem to justify some higher pay.
I don't think anyone hates Dak, but he just hasn't played well enough to justify being paid like a marquee quarterback- yet.
If Deshaun Watson was the quarterback in Dallas, I doubt anyone would complain about what he was paid.

Carson Wentz has thrown as many passes in a Super Bowl as I have. Can I have 100 Million dollars?
Carson Wentz led the Eagles to a playoff berth before getting hurt. He earned his ring. But he earned his pay with his play in 2019 when he took the team on his shoulders and won the NFC East while much of his offense were injured- and he beat Dak Prescott when it counted to do so.

What if UFO's abducted Dak and left a note and an alien saying they needed Dak for their exchange program for one year. Would we give the alien a tryout? You people are bringing up such crazy scenarios, I just thought I'd join the conversation doing the same thing. It started by talking about taking Keenum over Dak and the conversation has just snowballed from there into more craziness. The Cowboys are not bringing in Brady or Rivers to start. They both would be fine upgrades to Cooper Rush but Dak is our QB, he will be starting in 2020, even if it takes tagging him. Dak loves the team and the game too much to sit out. He's not going to turn down the average of the top 5 QB salaries in the league. The memory of Zeke holding out has too many posters freaked out about Dak doing the same thing. As any player will tell you if asked, Dak is our leader, our heart and soul on the team. He has too much invested with the team to be holding out for money. A holdout by Dak is just not going to happen so folks, stop with all the "what ifs" Dak is going to be our QB in 2020. All the rest of those scenarios is nonsensical fiction... Just like UFOs abducting Dak and leaving an exchange.

No, you're only worth $10, a bag of popcorn, and a half drank soft drink.
Wentz needs more since he has back problems!

At QB? Honestly, I don't know that any of them have gone that way. Cowboys usually don't screw around with the QB deals, as far as I can remember.
Theres never been a dispute with a QB contract.

The OP said he did.

They're not lowballing. Dak's agent is highballing.
Well neither of us knows that for sure, but that's what it would seem to be, yes.

As someone else pointed out prior, there's some other windfall on the horizon that may expand the cap greatly, and Daks people want to capitalize on that.

I dont see how they can have it both ways, but if they are so certain, then sign the tag and get to mini camp.

It's going to be okay. I just read Dak was abducted by a UFO. Looks like we're free to sign Brady.
