Gotta love CZ...so go after a QB that has accomplished less than Dak but that has been paid 200 billion dollars in his career. You hate Dak for trying to get a franchise QB contract...but have no problem paying the poster-child of getting a bunch of money and not producing anything. This all made the more funny as Dak already has had multiple seasons better than Stafford.

Stop while you're ahead.

EDIT: And he is injured. Why not former MVP Cam Newton instead?
What exactly has Dak accomplished? He’s won nothing. He does put up those fantasy yards like Winston.

I'm not for getting Stafford, and I think Dak is and will be our guy
But you're probably one of the very worst posters regarding not getting that it' a TEAM game. You were that way with Romo to.

Agree to disagree on Stafford not having a better QB record--if thats even real thing---if he had played for Dallas the last few years.
Adios

I get that it’s a team game but no player influences the outcome of games more than the QB, which is why they get paid all that money and are drafted at the top of the draft. Stafford has had 11 years to turn the Lions around and they continue to struggle. They had a good team the year we played them in the playoffs in 2014 and Romo got one of his only playoff wins against Stafford. Stafford doesn’t elevate his team like Rodgers, Brady and Brees have. I understand when a QB is drafted it’s going to take some time to turn a bad team around and Stafford has had plenty of time.

He’s been productive but he doesn’t elevate the players around him. I could point to a number of QBs who were drafted number one overall like Stafford that eventually turned their teams into championship teams. All he’s done in Detroit is put up numbers but he doesn’t win. He hasn’t been able to turn that organization around. Great QBs turn organizations around. Appears the Lions may have finally given up on him. I remember years ago when the Cowboys signed Vinny and Bledsoe fans thought we would win with those QBs. They drooled over their career numbers but we went nowhere. Rarely does a team get anywhere with an aging QB that’s in decline. Stafford is a long way from washed up but he’s not getting it done.

Cam is a glorified version og Dak. And Matthew Stafford is an actual QB

Are fans are disrespectful morons. Truthfully they deserve another 25 years of mediocrity for it.
Dont worry if Dakie-Pooh is signed the Cowboys will be well on thier way to that death sentnce of mediocrity you wish upon them

Lol. Romo was definitely better at throwing picks in crucial moments of the game. You just showed your agenda and why you don’t like Dak. Thanks for coming out.
There's no agenda. Romo is better than Dak. That's all. I don't like Dak because he wants to be paid like a top QB without playing like one. How's that for an "agenda"?

Problem is he's actually outplayed his contemporaries that have landed big contracts.

Losing QB? The poor guy has been stuck on one of the most poorly run franchises and has still kicked butt. I would love to see what he could do with this team.

This, Matt with our O would be the one. He can make all the throws. H--- I benched Rivers and started him in fantasy and he put up crazy points for me. In that h--- hole in Michigan about as bad as Cleveland.

It's Dak's fault the defense can't get critical stops and/or turnovers and that he plays for an organization that has had the absolute worst special teams in the NFL the past couple of seasons ? BTW , the Chiefs and Ravens have the best rosters in football.................................

No, but it is Dak’s fault he had to rely on his defense to win and didn’t put the game away long before then

Two late firsts are nothing for a franchise QB if a team evaluated Dak as such. Part of me would love to see this board explode into pieces if Dak was signed by New England for two firsts and won a Super Bowl the first year he was in New England.
I dont think BB would give that for any qb.
I think that is why it costs 2, so that it wont hardly ever happen.
I dont believe any team as done that yet have they?
See most gm's would make a trade before the guy is tagged lol.

And if NE got some offensive skill players, it is possible they could win with Dak.

So to recap:
  1. Stafford is an obviously awesome upgrade over Dak, so the Lions will be happy to let him go for peanuts.
  2. Dak is an obvious garbageman at QB, so teams like the Saints and Patriots will be happy to give up two 1st round picks for him.
Just LOL
fan logic lol :lmao2:

Here are the reasons from every angle.

Why would Dallas do it?
Stafford has 3 years left on his contract.
Much better cap situation than what Dak will be.
Stafford is better than Dak and would crush in our offense
Just turned 32 and would easily fulfill his contract and maybe another few years.
Could end up gaining a 1st rd pick (will explain later)

Why would Det do it?
They are in place to get Tua if they choose
They are rebuilding
They could add an extra 1st rd pick. Maybe Tua and Fulton instead of Okuda
By trading Stafford and drafting Tua the staff buys some time to rebuild and likely can keep their jobs for a few years.

Why would Stafford go along with it?
He's a local kid and grew up a Cowboys fan
He has potential HOF numbers but likely wouldn't get in unless he gets a chance to win some big games.
Better talent around him.
He's getting older and our OL could prolong his career.
His kids get to be around the grandparents.

How would it go down?

Tag Dak with the non exclusive tag. New England or New Orleans(if Brees retires)or another team picking late decides he is worth giving up 2 1sts for him.

We trade the newly acquired 2020 1st rd pick to Det for Stafford. We still have pick 17 and gain an extra 2021 1st rd pick. We save cap space and gain a Qb built to win now. Reports are that he is fully recovered from injury and by sitting out the season he avoided any long term damage.
 I can’t believe people actually think that Dak is not here to stay.

New England got two firsts by tagging Matt Cassel and letting him go to KC. The tag would have cost the Patriots $14.6 million to keep him.
Sean Gilbert was tagged by the 'Skins in 1998. He signed an offer with Carolina and Washington received the Panthers 1999 and 2000 first round picks by refusing to match.
