Do I have seen guys say Dak shouldn't get paid top 2 money because he isn't top 2 in the league.

Let's look at Zeke. Most on here that say Dak shouldn't get top QB salary was wanting Zeke to get paid top RB money but yet Zeke wasn't even a top 5 RB this season.

Same thing with Cooper, I haven't seen anybody say he should take much less money because he isn't top 5 receiver in the league.

What about Lawrence? Was he a top DE this season....... the answer is no but he got paid like it.

Jaylon took a little less but still around that top 5 money but is he a top 5 LB.

Byron Jones will get top 3 money but is he even a top 5 CB?

I have seen Phillips DT from Bills where some want to sign him. Is he a top 5 DT in this league? No, but he still get paid.

All these are examples are just about the year they sign because in another year or two those players most likely will be outside top 10 in salaries at their position.

I agree. Pay Dak now. He won't be getting any cheaper.
Yep, salary will just keep increasing until he gets signed. Only thing holding it back is length, Jerry just needs to give Dak the 3 or 4 years he wants and move on until it's time to sign him again. That also allows another coach to pick his QB if McCarthy doesn't work out in that time frame.

You're making a case as to why Dallas shouldn't have paid those players. Are you now suggesting they shouldn't pay Dak? Because I know you're not using those examples as to why we should pay Dak, right?

I didn't want to pay Zeke cause RBs are the easiest position to replace. QBs, CBs, DL, LB, OL etc. are the hardest to replace and I have no problem spending the money for them.

My entire point is, salaries don't show who the best are and in that order. It goes by who contract is up next and within a year or two their salary isn't top 10 most of the time.

I'm probably one of the worst posters on this entire board over that. It's a curse. My Wife doesn't even listen to me anymore when I say something is too much. She just gives me that look and hands over my CC. For me, it's not about how much I like or dislike the players normally. Don't get me wrong, there have been players that I just don't want on the team but yeah, nobody calls me up for opinion so there is something to the idea of remembering I'm the fan and not the team. It is what it is but I do understand both sides of the dilemma.

Matthew Stafford was the highest paid QB in NFL history just three years ago. No one, not even the Lions, thought he was the best QB of all time.

Pay Dak around $35 to $37 million annually now, and in a few years it will look like a bargain.

The salary cap will keep increasing. Don't know why there's so much hand-wringing about this. Dak is an upper-middle tier starting quarterback. The Cowboys know he can win consistently in the correct system; which is true of over half the QB's in the NFL right now.

All the QB's everybody is slobbering over in the 2020 draft could be superstars, yes, or they could be the next Jameis Winston, Paxton Lynch, Marcus Mariota, or Brady Quinn, too. Dallas lucked into Prescott and I don't know why so many fans think you can just find a new quarterback every year. Every hotshot coming out of college isn't the second coming of Patrick Mahomes.

I'm guessing that it's because Dak wants a contract that doesn't allow for this. He wants a deal that is up in a couple of years, according to some reports. That basically kills the idea of saving money down stream. In a few seasons, you would be back in the same place but with a much bigger salary demand. Thats not a good deal for the team IMO.
