The Cowboys made the playoffs in 2018.
It had to be because of one of the two options below:
1. Garrett/Marinelli were great and enabled the team to overcome crappy talent.
2. The talent was great and enabled the team to overcome crappy coaching.
If your claim is that the roster is not talented, then you are claiming that Garrett/Marinelli should have been retained and the roster should have been overhauled.
Or option 3. We played in a weak division.
I never said it wasn’t talented (maybe I did but don’t think so) I’ve said it’s over rated. If we’re so talented why are there threads every day complaining about some of our best players and rightfully so?
The only group that I would say is that much better than most teams is our O line and RB. Unfortunately, RB is also the most expendable position, especially with a great O line, and we just blew a wad of money on a one and wasted the 4th overall pick.
LB’ers looked average at best last year, Gallup is slightly better than average, Cooper is inconsistent, TE is non existent and then we have Dak (not even touching that one). D line interior is trash, Quinn is an above average pass rusher but not all that against the run, D Law seems like he lost a bit but is still above average. Our secondary is pretty weak and people want to let the best player walk because he doesn’t get enough INT’s.
So where does that leave us “talent” wise? Slightly above average at best IMO.
*I just looked back at the 2018 schedule...whoa, that was pretty weak and unimpressive. Take a gander yourself.
