Cowboys meet with Amari Cooper's representatives at combine and reportedly want to sign him before free agency
Dak Prescott may be the headliner, but, for now, the Cowboys[/URL] are shifting their focus on re-signing receiver Amari Cooper.

On Thursday night, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reported that the Cowboys' brass -- which included team owner/general manager Jerry Jones -- met with Cooper's representatives in Indianapolis, the site of the NFL combine. During the meeting, it was understood that contract talks with Cooper and the team "now will intensify" between now and March 18, when Cooper is slated to become an unrestricted free agent.

Reports are coming out that under the new CBA, salary caps are expected to rise by $100 million. The time to get deals done is before that new benchmark is set, not after. After it's done every player in the league will be raising up their asking price and you'll be kicking yourself that you didn't get your players locked in ahead of it.

really need Coop..Gallup is coming but, not just yet.

Gallup had himself a 1k year and was barely behind Cooper...........thanx to Coopers disappearing act at the end. Jerry will sign Cooper b/c his trade with the Raiders would look foolish if he didn't and Jerry loathes being made a fool more than anything. This is the best WR draft in a loooong time. But lets go blow 20 million of cap space on a WR.

I feel after Stephen or Jerry comments about just walking in and they work out a deal within 24-48 hours like they did dlaw is going to happen with both Dak and amari. Now will it be a fluctuated contract like dlaw or zeke. More than likely lol

Is that 100 million instant or over 10 years. Geez. Players will gobble that up. Starting with Dak. If his agent knows then he will be wanting 40 million. And Cooper wanting 20-22.

That disappearing act and pouting has me worried. Unless he was lying about his health. I heard some ex players saying he was for sure dealing with injuries and couldn’t cut the way he usually did.

It's ridiculous because Jerry has personally been involved in these negotiations. He knows the numbers better than anyone, and yet his team has been the one that's failed to get deals done.

While both Goff and Wentz agreed to multi-year extensions with time left on their deals, Prescott did not.

While the Saints and Falcons re-upped with Michael Thomas and Julio Jones, the Cowboys could not work a deal with Amari Cooper.

Ultimately, I think the Cowboys will be paying more than what the Rams and Eagles did, and more than what the Saints are paying Thomas.

And then the Joneses will try to sell it to the masses as them somehow being 'smart' when the opposite will be true. They failed to get ahead of this thing.

I'm reading that it's per year, as soon as the new CBA kicks in. Smart teams are budgeting for that jump and spending a little more now to save a lot more later. But not us.

He was playing at about 70%. If he's healthy now its a different story.
