Sounds unrealistic. Is it Monopoly money? Seriously just think about it. Yes Romo is cool and a great QB but c’mon. That’s stupid money.. How much do the other legends make? 1.5 to 3 million per? It just seems excessive...

Ya so when their contracts come due they will all be thanking Romo for setting the bar higher. Every announcer in football just got a raise thanks to this deal

Hope they get rid of the horrible MNF crew. They’re the worst in it’s history.
The problem with MNF is that it's being compared to its origin. When it debut, it was culture-shaping because until its time, no one had even heard of football being broadcast outside of Sundays and Saturdays and a three-man booth where levity was actually allowed. That was the format.
It has evolved, but it's been hard to recap that "magic" that made MNF the cultural phenomenon that it was.
I rarely even watch it anymore, unless the Cowboys play. There's nothing that draws me to the broadcast other than to watch football. And even then I fall asleep on the games, because most of them are boring. The anchors are so non-descript, they're basically invisible to me.
About the only time I'd even watch it for the personalities was when Dennis Miller was a part of the booth. He tried to bring some levity to the broadcast. "Jeff George throws a pretty interception."

UDFA to starting QB for America’s team. To. Highest paid colour commentator in sports history. What a career. And that’s leaving out his dating record
:hammer:

Haven't they done a 30 for 30 on Romo, or one of those "life" segments they do on NFL Network of NFL greats? I think they have, but they need to upgrade Romo's.
He's living the life. $17 million to talk football 6 months out of the year. He must be pinching himself, and his model wife must be pinching him too.

Good for Romo.

Clearly a selfish broadcaster. He could have left money so that they could build a better team around begin but noooo, he had to had aaaalllllll the money.

This is what’s wrong with these modern broadcasters. Give me Dandy Don and Howard Cosell, Madden and Summerall. Those guys worked for free ant they liked it thst way!

Now get off my lawn!

The only thing I compare it to is good vs bad and it’s bad.

Amazing a broadcaster can make that much money. But I guess they fall under the umbrella of "entertainment" where the sky is the limit. Congrats to Tony. He is the best at what he does. Just glad it wasn't :espn:

I’m shocked it took 2 pages before some one crapped on this.

$17 million a year? Breaking out my calculator for some advanced math......that comes out to $1 million a week in a 17 game season. Not bad work if you can get it. Although I wonder if the network would only pay him $250,000 for the 17th game?

It was at night too, that was a first too, and having 3 vg personalities in the booth made it more entertaining.
It was also on network TV, free TV which was important.
As soon as espn got MNF it started downhill, and is now a joke.
I would rather it come back to ABC, and get another 3 that would be good to announce it.

Highest paid = No. 1 analyst
This will likely be his best route/ticket to HOF......
Romo must expand his broadcasting career far beyond his current game color commentary in order for the Board of Selectors to nominate and induct him as a pro football contributor. In my opinion, he is quite capable of doing so. Romo has the essential combination of intelligence, wisdom and just enough on-screen personality to supplement his post-football career in a significant way. However, what we see Romo doing now is very likely not enough to get Romo into the Hall.

This deal makes sense. Romo is a far better commentator than he was QB for the cowboys. Good for him.
