That's what y'all are not realizing what this team needs......DEZ!
You aren't realizing that he can't play in this league any more. Drive, desire, enthusiasm...those are great qualities to have but none contribute anything toward actually playing the game on the field. Dez is limited athletically, doesn't know route trees, would demand too much money, won't play special teams and would be a MAJOR distraction. Even bigger than TO. It would be awful. Add it all up, and it's clear the Cowboys don't need Dez and shouldn't answer the phone when he calls.

The recent videos of Dez prove who is the idiot. Go to bed old fogey.

Hey little boy that old man has been has been free to sign with any team that wanted him at any time. He doesn't have to wait for free agency to start yet NO TEAM has signed him. Now if he is as good as YOU think he is and there are teams that need WR help, then why hasn't a single team even brought him in for an official workout and/or signed him? All he's done is publicly begged for someone to sign him and put out a choreographed video.

Please stick to checks and leave the scouting to the professionals.

I don’t think it would be a distraction. It’d be an adrenaline shot and get the fan base excited!

And it doesn’t have to take reps away from anyone. Let me ask you a question @Alexander - it’s 3rd and goal from the 6, who is catching that fade route in the corner of the end zone?

It isn’t Coop and it isn’t Gallup.

Now that we have a coach who has shown genuine offensive creativity, there’s absolutely a niche for Dez in this offense.

Oh, and if he’s a distraction, if he can’t play, or both, you cut him and lose NOTHING.

#BringBackDez :flagwave:

Here's a question for you. Will he actually catch the ball or will he be the receiver that was one drop away from leading the league in drops in 2016 or the receiver that DID lead the league in drops in 2017? His most recent past, which is TWO complete seasons ago suggests he has a good chance he would drop it. So is it really wise to use up a valuable roster spot on an has been over the hill one trick pony that has a history of drops over a young faster receiver with upsides?

Cooper is busy on the sideline looking disinterested.

You could never drag Dez off the field, especially with the game/season on the line.

Did you say season on the line?

You are delusional, living in the past, thinking Dez is still the guy he once was. Fans do this sometimes. Time marches on and it has marched all over Dez. Move on.

Seriously? He looks like an old man (football years) making a fool of himself. All 32 teams agree which is why he will never get a tryout for any team ever again. He is a media darling. The media peddles this crap and the idiot fans eat it up as if its crack because they don't know what they are really seeing. It's just plain garbage propaganda. It has no business on a serious NFL forum.
What in the world is a " serious fan forum?"

One that agrees with you?

Sort of harsh calling all of us out over Dez trying to make a living.

I would like to see him play in the XFL a few games and then decide.

I can't understand the negative comments about a guy who thrilled us for years and was one of the singular reasons we even made Sunday afternoon games possible for national TV.

Romo being the other reason.

Dez was clearly disrespected by Garrett. He has been fired.

This team has been clearly dysfuntional in the FO over the years.

Time to rerun the tape and see with Dez.

Making Dez a scapegoat to cover their failures is pretty typical.

No one is faulting Dez for trying to make a buck, but I doubt a guy who's had significant lower body injuries who hasn't caught a pass since 2017 and is on the wrong side of 30 is what we need on the team right now.

Except when Dez quit and walked off the field before the game was over ;)

Understood.

And I respect all opinions on the subject.

But I think Dallas is on the wrong side of this trying to make the problem Dez.

The FO decided to pay Dez $14 mil/yr on his new deal in 2015 only 2 years into his new deal he was cut. Crazy.

The rest of the team had to take notice. Not pretty.

Lee and Witten are now feeling the FO pressure like Dez did.

Guys that once carried the team are being phased out.

Although they can still play..they can't be very pleased.

Can McCarthy be pleased? Not when TE, WR and LBer are as much a concern right now. That's alot of veteran winning talent to ditch right now.

Maybe Dez and they can go practice together at the Star so the FO can be reminded of their error.

Yikes.

One that focuses on real sports rather than fantasy gossip like this garbage about Dez.

One that agrees with you?

Wouldn't that be awesome. Then times like this where my valuable time isn't being wasted explaining thinks to likes of your ilk.

Sort of harsh calling all of us out over Dez trying to make a living.

Dez is welcome to make a living elsewhere, he'd be perfect for the XFL, if they'll have him.

I would like to see him play in the XFL a few games and then decide.

Damn good idea!

I live in the present and am baffled by those that can not do the same. It's a form of dysfuntion to think as you do about Dez in the present tense. He is a has been.

Romo being the other reason.

Romo moved on and found another way to make a living.

Dez was clearly disrespected by Garrett. He has been fired.

It took the will of more than just Garrett to put Dez out the door. First, he lost favor with the team captains. Second, the rumor mill about Dez making waves in the locker room finally made its way to Jerry's periphery. Third, Jerry had the matter investigated and as the saying goes, crap runs down hill from there. Garrett was caught in the middle so he had to side with his team captains, mostly Witten and Lee. That's all spilled milk now but there is no chance that decision will be reversed. It makes no football sense. It won't be just because Jerry wants it, it would be because Stephen or Will McClay or even Mike McCarthy want to give it a try. I just don't see that happinging.

Time to rerun the tape and see with Dez.

The tape says he is an old man that won't do special teams and would only be a back up to Cooper, Gallup or Cobb at best but we have younger guys for that. When the choice is young or old, the young always has the greater upside. Dez may have a place somewhere in the NFL, it just isn't with the Cowboys.

It's NOT his:

-old age
-poor attitude
-injury history
-salary demand
-distraction

He just wasn't very good at the end of his tenure here. Bad routes, mental mistakes, drops, etc...
Surprising how many people have forgotten this!

You forgot horrible & rushed passes his way.

You aren't realizing that he can't play in this league any more.

Saying it over and over big dog doesn’t make it so. What makes you think he can’t play? And even better, what makes you think that he can’t be a role player on this team?

He might not be as fast as he was but speed has never been Dez’s strong suit. You know what it is, it’s those fade passes and slants.

In his last full year (2017), Dez caught 69 balls for 838 yards. That’s not awful at all, and let’s be honest, that was Dak’s worst year as a pro (by far). In 2017, Dak had his worst career completion percentage, passing yards, most interceptions, etc. Some of those throws that Dez dropped were badly thrown balls.

Look, re-reading this it reads as though I’m making excuses for Dez and I’m not. As I said, I was for cutting him in 2018. But I believe the team needs a receiver with his specific talents right now, I believe that he can still play, I believe that he’s humbled, and most importantly, I believe that there’s zero risk to signing him.

It's simple. He couldn't play in this league two years ago. Now he suddenly can? Nope.

Dez as a role player? Dez Bryant a role player. Try HUGE distraction. That's what he would be.

Want to know what I believe? I believe the season will start in September and Dez will be exactly where he is today....unemployed.
