we may lose cooper too. Cooper only wants to stay if Dak is under contract. He has said this. We may be watching the dismantling of the offense bit by bit.

JJ poised to ruin this team AGAIN. Market value is dictating salary. JJ really showing the love or the lack thereof. Come on down Cooper, next man up...…???? Dak it's your turn to be the Fall Guy.
$105 million guaranteed is pretty dang good offer

So they "trade him" in June or July? After free agency and the draft have already happened? Some plan...
not my idea of a plan either..but THIS is how the Joneses operate. UNCONVENTIONAL AS HELL.

I’m not sure why we’re so scared to let him test the market. It’s highly unlikely a team would be willing to part with two firsts.

More like impossible. Nobody will give up two 1st rounders AND pay him at the top of the QB market. That's a farce and something no team has ever done nor would ever do. But it's another opportunity to gauge the market and elicit offers that Dumb and Dumber failed to use.

WE LOOK LIKE AN EMBRARRASSMENT AS AN ORGANIZATION. Just like 2019 played out on the field..this may be worse. BAD OPTICS.

Whether you're in the you LIKE Dak or you DON'T like Dak camp, one thing is crystal clear...……………….Jerry and Stephen ABSOLUTELY messed this entire 2020 scenario up. Their 1st mistake was not signing Dak when he was at his cheapest point (towards the end of 2018 after Amari came to town). Then, they compound THAT mistake by caving on Zeke's demands even though he had 2 years left on his deal. To make matters worse, they sign Jaylon to his extension when he was due for one THIS YEAR (after the way he played in 2019, they OBVIOUSLY could've saved $$$$). So, they waited to the last possible minute to sign the 2 MOST IMPORTANT dudes with actual expiring contracts. Even Hollywood couldn't make up such a ridiculous story.

That applies to players who are franchise tagged and refuse to report
That's not what the new CBA says, that can not be legally enforced. He has to sign the tag before he can be forced to do anything.

The Cowboys have placed the exclusive franchise tag on Dak Prescott, according to a source. The Cowboys’ hope is to sign Prescott to a long-term deal well before July 15 but recent talks have not gone far. Since the system has been in place, only eight quarterbacks have been tagged and only two have played under the tag the entire season: Kirk Cousins twice (2016-17) in Washington and Drew Brees in 2005 in San Diego. Next question: Will Prescott show up for offseason work without deal?

If he wants to screw the Cowboys’ 2020 season over pride money, SCREW HIM! I’d do the most I can for the defense in the draft/FA, find a FA vet QB to manage an offense with a monster running game, and go from there.

so we trade away a 1st round pick for a year and a half rental? GET NUTHIN IN RETURN? If this happens with Cooper, I am gonna be so pissed. Its one thing to give up a mid round pick on a rental..but a premium pick like that and you let him walk? lmao...MM BETTER HAVE SOME ROLAIDS HANDY.

I *think* the end of the 2018 season was the earliest they could redo Dak's rookie deal, but yeah. Either you recognize you don't want him long term and trade him, or you do want him and you sign him as early as possible for as long as possible to maximize your long term cap savings.

From the end of 2018 to 2020 there have been a ton of QB contracts that only moved the market one way, UP.
