Everyone is so optimistic about the upcoming season.

I don't know. A new offense, a new defense, new special teams(though they were the worst in the league). A large turnover in the roster. There are a lot of moving parts. I think it's going to be difficult to win the division, let alone "win it all".

Plus the drama with Prescott still has to play out.

Everything has to fall into place for Dallas to contend, and I mean everything. I'm going to wait till training camp and see the final product before deciding to go all in on this team.

Everyone excited but there will be no season.

Cobb and Thomas. The quote at the end eliminates Cobb, so...

At least it wasn't the OP who named names. However, once Mercedes gets ahold of this information, the next thread during training camp will read, "Hey, I was selling Toyotas and you'll never believe who walked in .... "

Well the franchise has pretty much been horrid for the past 25 years. I guess by extension that would mean being the franchise doesn't say much at the moment. :p

Edit: No that was not an intentional Dak bash, just a friendly jab based on what was said.

franchise is in reference to Dak.

So I’m not going to disclose any names. I work at a Mercedes-Benz dealership and we had a client come in here and purchase a vehicle. This particular client happened to be a player who played for McCarthy and Garrett. He said he was shocked McCarthy took the offer from the Cowboys. When I asked him why, he said that when he got to the Cowboys D Law told him “don’t worry about Jason Garrett, he’s Jerry’s puppet. Just go straight to Jerry.”

That obviously comes as no shock, but it was interesting to hear somebody confirm the locker rooms perspective of Jason Garrett. I asked him why he was shocked that McCarthy took the job and he told me that McCarthy is the complete opposite of Garrett. He is not a puppet. I asked him if he felt like Jerry relinquished his role as being the puppet master and he said “absolutely. That’s the feel in the locker room because McCarthy has wiped out everybody and Jerry would’ve never allowed Garrett to do that. “.

Sounds like a lot of players are shocked because the feel is that McCarthy is the man and he’s the guy you go to now instead of Jerry Jones.

He left me with something that was pretty exciting as we were finishing our conversation... “ we going to take it this year”. I kind of nodded my head and said something to along the lines of I hope so and then he said “trust me, with McCarthy you’re going to see a whole different team this year and we’re going to be a hard team to beat. It’s going to look and feel like a whole new Cowboys team with MM and the coaches he brought in “!
No question we upgraded at the HC position. The only remaining anchor to overcome is whether or not anyone named Jones will stop acting like this team is his rich boy hobby instead of a bonafide NFL franchise trying to win a Lombardi trophy instead of a Forbes.

I don't think there is any question we upgraded in the coaching area, even if it's just from a culture and tone perspective. This team often lacked accountability and hopefully McCarthy and others bring that back.

Even if McCarthy were a puppet, he should be a big game day management improvement over Garrett.

21-22-1..... MM record in GB over his last 3 seasons...... damn good thing he is his own man, could you imagine how crappy his record would be if he were a puppet.

I seriously doubt this is a year for serious contention for a championship.
It would be nice, but you're right. Too many moving parts.
I give 'em three years to contend for a championship. No instant karma to be had here. I'm all in over the changes in coaching, which were a joke the previous year or so. Gotta give MM a chance to implement scheme changes and roster building, which usually takes more than one season. I just want them to be more competitive this season, if there is one.

LOL Garrett was such a puppet that played nice to everyone. He didn't piss anyone off and kept his distance from everyone to not have any kind of coach-to-player relationship with them. Of course if there was an issue they would go to Jerry instead. Not because Garrett's ability to coach. But because Garrett wasn't approachable and Jerry was.

And you are basing your OPINIONS based on one unsubstantiated claim by an unnamed player by a user on this message board. If all of the players went over Garrett's head to Jones there would be a boatload of players quotes of this haven happened and so far there are actual zero player quotes of such things. There have been former players and coaches who have said how easy it was to talk to Garrett and he always had an open door policy with all players and coaches. Again I don't care what happens with Garrett I just don't see how anything is gained by spreading non-thruths about anyone.

Jerry was backed into a tough spot and couldnt sell Garrett any longer.

I strongly suspect MM comes here, rights the ship to a degree, then Jerry runs him out of town as he did any decent coach he has ever had....or anyone that could ever take the credit from him.

Worst part is if they won Jerry would get his credit, he just couldnt stand to possibly share any of it. None. Zero.
Maybe he realizes how old he is and has changed.

Again....heres to hoping, which is all we have as fans of this team...HOPE.
I can see why you would feel that way, and I did too for awhile. But, I believe Jerry has voice his insight into his own behavior. Stay tuned. It's worth a look. It is better than the past several years.

So just type "RUMOR" and come up with any story we want?

How many 32 year old Mercedes salesmen have you seen in your life?... lol
