Gave up 143 rushing yards a game..........

Anyone got to see much of the Panthers play last year?

Now Poe did miss 5 games last year...

DT's aren't the only sole people responsible for defending the run....even though fans on this site believe our s are the reason why they can't defend the run lol.

Maybe if they had both all year the ranking would be better?

I think its hard to judge when the O stunk too. How many times was the D put in bad spots? Plus when you're O can't score teams have no need to air it out on you, they can wear you down all day with the run. With that said, I would have felt better if they were like 15th vs the run last year and not 32nd. lol

They played a 3-4 defense with crap linebackers (other than Luke K) and crap safeties. McCoy played out of position and still had a PFF run D grade of 77 (Maliek collins had one of the lowest in the league at 53). Jaylon smith had 100% identical stats to Luke Kuechley last year. Our linebackers can FLY so this is going to be great.

i don't think they have a DE as good vs the run as DLaw...that element of his game along side McCoy/Poe...significantly improves things up-front for us.
plus Randy Gregory's return.
plus whatever we add from the draft.
plus whatever this staff can get out of DEs Armstrong,Jackson and Jelks.....and Trysten Hill.
things are looking up on the dline.

There is a reason why certain players are available in FA. If they're a cap casualty, that's one thing but a well traveled vet cannot be expected to be the complete answer or he wouldn't be available.

The question is are they an upgrade over what the Cowboys had because one team's trash can be another's treasure.

2 DT's are supposed to eat up 3 OL and keep them off their LB's. Part of the reason CAR gave up that much rushing was on their MLB, he was not close to what he used to be which is why he hung it up. Their D was a shell of what it used to be.

Yep, and i also heard they rotated alot more than some of the guys wanted. Don't know how true though.

Putting those guys next to Dlaw in a 4-3 should help. Also this now gives Jaylon and LVE more room to run around and make plays. Idk where lee fits in this but we know he gets to the ball really well. How does gregory fit in we will see.

Always liked mccoys determination, and Poe is a big body.

i'd still take McCoy/Poe over Collins/Woods.
As would I.......I'd also choose dog crap over horse crap but I don't want either crap lol. Not to say McCoy and Poe were crap......I simply don't know. I know McCoy at one point in his career was one of the better DT's in the league. Poe has been solid throughout his career as well.

That's possible too and I Thought about that but weren't the Panthers in it for awhile? Didn't they have a decent record earlier in the season with Kyle Allen? Then he crumbled and so did their record I thought?

Also another thing was that the Panthers imploded last year on offense and the Kyle Allen story went down in flames.

When the other team has the lead, they typically run the ball to close out the game.

Don't get me wrong, they were just bad on run defense overall, but look at some of the yardage given up. 248 yards to the Skins, with a 60 yard run given up to Guice, and AP with 99 yards on 13 carries.
