Exactly. If we wanted to, we could enter the Clowney sweepstakes. And we certainly could bring in a Griffen or a Golden on a short term deal.
They definitely can. Money isn't a issue. They have all of their best players locked up right now. They have a lot of options. I just hope they see it that way.

And they can probably create almost twice that much if they want to.

Sign Dak, cut his cap hit to $10 to $15 million, cut Crawford, save $8 million. I am sure there are a few other moves.

The thing is, what can and what will they do with that cap space. They could use part of it to lock up any players becoming FA's in 2021. But they do not need to do it now. They can wait until TC or during the season if a player is playing really well.

And as you said, if you sign Dak, you save a few million more. If you go get Griffen, you could restructure or cut Crawford which would save even more. Cap space should not be an issue for this team going forward.

The issue they will have going forward is being so top heavy. Come 2021, they mostly only have players with big contracts and players on rookie deals signed. The question is will they actually be able to field a complete competitive team with what is left for the other 25-30 players they need to find in the next two years.

Nope and I don't want to hear about that from this front office or fans. Its not a issue.

I honestly think that if they don't make any moves before the draft they will try and be players in that next wave of guys who possibly get cut later on. Still some names out there now though. Shocked Golden hasn't been picked up yet.

That is the cost of a hamburger and a beer at the stadium. Well at any stadium.
Yep...I don't see the fans asking Whataburger to give a fan friendly tab at the Stadium Concession stands.

These owners are great at PR.

What's even sweeter is once Dak's deal is done, we have no more big-ticket deals coming down the pipe for a while.

We can essentially spend all that money on FAs / signings because we can use Fred Beard's 6 mil to sign the draft picks.

Maybe but there are projections the cap could explode. They won't be as top heavy as people think IMO.

I got a feeling Golden and Griffen are in holding pattern (either by themselves or teams) until Clowney makes a move. If someone gives Clowney a big, long term deal, it's going to up the cost of those two. But if Clowney signs a one year, prove it deal, that's going depress what Golden and Griffen likely will get (but may kick of a feeding frenzy if they are cheap).

Maybe, but that will just push all salaries further up so it may not provide much relief at all. Being top heavy isn’t necessarily the problem, it’s being top heavy with only slightly better than average players which it looks like Dallas is on pace to be. If they were getting production that matched the salaries, there wouldn’t be much of an issue.

This is why I laugh at outsiders talking about our cap. We could of kept Byron Jones easily and this was the perfect situation.. new cba, new contracts . We didn’t even touch Lawrence’s, martins or Crawford’s contracts which would of saved another 26 million!!!

Possible. I would say does money dry up but there seems to be a list of teams with money. No reason to rush on edge rushers. Makes sense.

Its not about NOT affording Jones. Its a conscious decision that he simply wasn't worth the money he was asking.
Which was the right decision.
