Deion was the best corner ever to play the game imo and is my favorite player ever

but Darrell green was shutdown as well......
So was Rod woodson

and Mel Blount literally has a rule named after him just so they could open the passing game up

Disagree overall, Also, are we talking for their whole career or for a certain amount of time.
I will say Deion was probably the most pure cover corner we have seen and better than the ones I list below who also could be considered Best of the Best corners in man coverage.

I could say at times, Peterson, Revis, Champ Bailey, Rod Woodson, Ty Law were all top of the game corners who locked down one side of the field. Just some off top of my head

Deion was the most over-rated corner ever. Give me Everson Walls over the guy who was allergic to tackling.
Wow.

Deion was the best corner ever, and Everson couldn't even stand in the same room.

Nobody could beat Deion. He literally got bored and coaches receivers during games on how to run routes. Isaac Bruce says he learned the position during games from Deion.

I didn't like him personally, but he's probably the best player I ever watched other than Jerry Rice.

The better question is would you rather have a shutdown corner like Bryon Jones, or a turnover machine corner who took risks like Revis.

Edit: Not saying Jones is a top notch shutdown corner but he definitely held his own, just never took risks and played it safe.

I forgot about night train

i love watching old clips of him that man was made of pure fear
You betcha. Lane not only holds the league record for most interceptions in a season (14) but did it when the NFL played 12-game seasons and did it as a rookie.

He was the best Corner at interceptions. 7x Pro Bowler. Picking the All-time best Corner is like picking the best All-time Quarterback. It's impossible. Different era's made/had different legends.

from what i remember reading from some where that went back and did analysis on deion there wasnt a huge difference between him and elite corners today or a few years ago when it was written. the idea that deion shut down an entire half of the field and quarterbacks were totaly afraid to even throw at him were like 99% myth. he was elite and for sure a hall of famer but the idea that he was a true shut down corner was not true.

  • The first cornerback to win the Defensive Player of the Year, Mel Blount qualifies as one of the best shutdown cornerbacks in NFL history on that accomplishment alone. Another qualifying achievement is when the NFL was forced to change a rule to stop Blount's dominance, allowing corners only five yards to shove or make contact with a receiver.
