Yes.
If Hill can get around Poe n McCoy to mentor him a bit, and get "eat breath sleep" serious about football he could rotate. Hill still is crazy athletic for his size, but is he a football player.

If so how would our DLine look

What is causing me to hesitate from anointing Hill the new whipping boy is that players usually make their biggest jump in strength and size in year 2. After this year or half way thru it we will know the deal.

Has the physical talent but motivation not there and seems to get easily frustrated. Internal motivation can't be taught, but its up to the new coaching staff to find ways to focus and try to motivate him.

Great write up X!

Do you see him as a 1 or 3 this year?

Hill would be best utilized as a 3tech but he has the physical ability to play 1tech. They just need to put him at one spot and leave him there for 2020.

Think about the last time you saw a player began his career like he has and turn it around.

I will wait.

He is the classic boom or bust. He busted despite Marinelli going to personally bat for him. I am sure it devastated the young man when Marinelli gave up on him, but those are the breaks.

I just don't think he has what it takes to mentally make it in the league. Of course, that was evident but we chose to ignore those telltale markers.

All on hill and his attitude. Would love if he did turn it all around. wouldn't have to spend any more premium picks on DT if he and Gallimore both reach potential. long term duo in the middle

I don't think it is all attitude.

I honestly don't think he is all that talented. Even his best plays in college are not all that impressive.

I do agree that he is not what he was sold to be. Sure he has a quick step but i dont think hes a pass rusher. They need to allow him to put weight back on move back to 1tech/nose. His best games where when he was eating blocks at 320+ pounds as a nose tackle. should have been a 4th or 5th round pick.

His biggest problem was strength. He’s got to be able to stay on his feet. He does have that really quick first step.

This should be a big offseason for him. If he’s worked hard, he needs to first make the active roster. My guess is we look at trading him to Las Vegas at cutdowns for an equivalent bag of beans from their roster like we did a few years back.

The Raiders drafted PJ Hall at DT in the 2nd round the year before we took Hill. He’s underwhelmed too. Maybe we swap busts and see if a change of scenery helps them come alive.

The best we can hope for with Hill is that he can become at least serviceable and be part of our rotation but even that looks like a long shot after such a disappointing rookie year.
The league and the Cowboys are littered with players who didn't set the world on fire their rookie year and still had a very good career. I don't understand why it's a long shot considering he was a very late 2nd round pick, came in raw and we knew he needed work. Now we have learned the coaches did about everything they could to mess this kid up.

Do you see Gallimore at the 3 also? It seems like he would be ahead of Hill on the depth chart unless Hill shows a lot of improvement in training camp.

Case in point, Chris Jones had 2 sacks a rookie and then 16.5 in his third year.
