makes more sense given his skill set of speed & agility to be on the edge and his lack of brute strength to be in the middle

But rush OLB still need to plant and change directions during pass rush. I am still not convinced he can do that with an OT pushing him upfield.

Hey there guys, I am a long time lurker and a fan for over 55 years since the day Don Meredith showed up at our school when I was 6 and saw that helmet and double star jersey and it was all over, been through the "Next Years Champion" in the 60's, watched the 70's teams to champions, watched as the 80's rolled by only to remember the "catch" and the White fumble in that famous game. I watched with pride as we found our way back to the top of the NFL as the team of the 90's. Then watched as the tripletts got older and left one by one. I saw the Campo years and to me these very worse since we had no talent, no money and no head coach. Then we brought in the Tuna, he did a lot to bring talent to Dallas but was not impressed with his coaching. Went through the Garrett years in pain as I wanted Garrett out in 2015. I haven't missed Cowboy game since 1989 ( got married that one weekend). So you can say I have seen the best and the worst and I will go to the grave in a Cowboy jersey.

To see Jaylon moved to OLB is what I've been asking for ever since he changed from OLB to MLB last season for some stupid *** reason as he struggles going laterally and fighting with guys 100 lbs bigger than him, we didn't exactly give him help up front to take the guards from driving Jaylon back 5-6 yards, he made the tackles but often with a 7 yard gain by RB.

I look to see Wolfhunter back in the middle this season and I really think that getting Poe/Mccoy and changing the LB'S back to the original positions will help both of our young guys, I loved Smith's attitude while he worked hard to get back to the player in college but last year I had a hard time liking some of our players and Jaylon was probably the one I was irritated all season.

I do expect the defense to play well after some time together so we are going to need Team Forty Burger to help take the load of those first few games as the defense could potentially start 3 new guys on DL, 1 possible 2 CB'S and 1 safety so that's 1/2 the defense and going without mini camps and OTCS's will keep our defense from jelling early..

So in short, I'm very good with moving Smith outside, and lastly the Boys not taking a LB shows me the Wolf Hunter is further along as I hoped for, he's will be one of the key parts of defense this year.

Go Boys!!!

Anyone heard anything about this?????????

Been saying for a long time that LVE needed to be in the middle and Jaylon on the outside, preferably at SLB if Lee is also in the game.

Didn't someone within the team staff say they don't think Jaylon could be effective rushing the passer?
If they did they were wrong
He not a DE bit he quick and can rush the passer off the edge in a situational use
He’s not gonna line up and beat a OT all day but you can use him on the edge in situations

Your Mike needs to have great instincts, something Jaylon doesn't have. He misses his gap fills way too much. He's better suited for the outside, rushing the passer and chasing.

I think that is main reason for the move is he lacked instincts. Dallas will try to get Jaylon in position to run down hill but he will once again be susceptible to lateral movement in space.

Another Sean Lee dilemma. Lee was clearly the best Mike we've had for years but got shoved to Will (which he was also good at) for the sake of protecting him.

Watching Jaylon's first year on the field in 2017, it was clear that he had range, explosiveness, but was all over the place. He just didn't seem like a central player. Give him a few areas of the field to chase/patrol, but don't give him a role requiring him to dissect the play.

Then when LVE was drafted in 2018 and I assumed he would be the Mike#2, spelling any other LB#1 position (he was that flexible) until he won the Mike#1 spot (sending Jaylon to his rightful position on the outside as Will/rushing Sam). To my surprise, LVE was picked as the Will#1 over Lee and crushed it, while Jaylon was "doing Jaylon" at the Mike.

We're wasting Jaylon's time and ours by playing him as the Mike. He's not a center-field LB. He can absolutely be a QB-killer as a 3-4 OLB or a 4-3 Will to use his speed to shutdown the edges or coverage skills to carry a TE.

I'm not crapping on Jaylon. He's more capable in certain aspects than LVE, but playing the Mike or the standard run isn't it. Jaylon get's manhandled inside the hashes.

I have no idea if moving outside will help but I was pretty tired of his **** by the end of last year so I'll take any change I can get since we're stuck with him.

It's amazing how quickly this dude went from inspiration to possibly my least favorite player on the team.

Over-paid and over-sold to the masses.....Another Jerry dream song that disappoints on the field where he seems lost half the time.

Thinking about it, any situation that makes 54 have to cover less is fine by me....be it him rushing or on the sideline.

Not a fan of him in coverage.

Problem is that Jaylon is a good blitzer. Without a credible threat of coverage, he's just a tiny DE who can't play well with his hand on the ground.

It's much like Noah Brown being a teeny tiny blocking TE until he can show he's a threat as a WR.

He's not exactly tiny. Same weight and arm length as Ware (when drafted) and IMO while he's not great in coverage for a MIKE, for a pass-rushing OLB he'd be elite in coverage.
