Partly because he's essentially a good quarterback and partly because their defensive front seven were/are loaded with first round picks.Yet, Garoppolo somehow got to the big game after they paid him. It's almost like the team crippling theory is fantasy.

Because they were awful for several seasons and had excellent first round picks which they nailed. Unique scenario.Wait that doesn't make sense. How could they have a good defense after paying their QB!?
Are you trying to say they weren't crippled somehow?
How did Dak Prescott step into, according to many here, the most stacked offense of all time if Tony Romo was still under his massive contract in 2016? How was Dallas able to build a championship roster just loaded with talent with one of the richest contract in NFL history still on the books?
No, I'm actually calling you out on giving a bad example of a NFL team trying to acquiring a QB thru the draft.Wow that point flew really high over your head.

Oh, so you contend its easy to find a elite QB in the draft? Really, that;s what you want on the record?
Rivera will make the skins much more competitive than prior years. I think the NFCE division aside from the Giants will be much improved. Eags got their receivers and Skins will now have a strong defensive minded team and prob a year or 2 out from filling in the offensive side of the ball. I think Rivera is very underrated. It will interesting how the Commanders get on next season as their defensive front looks very strong on paper.
It’s not easy to find an elite player at any position.
I think it’s easier than ever to find a Dak Prescott level of QB in the draft now days.
You put a talented young QB in an offense that gives them protection, has good wideouts, and an elite RB then you’re setting that prospect up for success.
I also really like the receiver the Commanders drafted, Gandy-Golden. I think he's way better than a 4th rounder.Rivera will make the skins much more competitive than prior years. If a team has a top 5 pick and is taking the top 1-2 QBs in the draft, sure. 6-10 maybe 50/50. Maybe. If a team is taking a QB anywhere after that the odds go way down. It’s not easy to find an elite player at any position.

Obviously it's not, but the odds are a considerably higher using a high pick than not.Oh, so you contend its easy to find a elite QB in the draft? Really, that;s what you want on the record?

They Drafted really well during that period and they had a lot of younger players still playing under manageable contracts.
Don’t pay Dak!Great...so we can all stop saying paying Dak will cripple the Cowboys. If the Cowboys were able to assemble a roster soooooo good that according to many here, was able to carry a talent-less, inaccurate, no arm 4th round throw away pick in Dak Prescott to one of the leagues best records over the last 4 years...while paying Romo mega bucks...
The Cowboys should have zero problem with paying Dak.
And the Cowboys would have to continue to draft well and have younger players still under manageable contracts if they want to succeed anyways.
