Dak and his agent needs have their head exam. This coronavirus and being isolated are doing some strange things to people mental state. I know that Dak's agent is trying to make a name for himself but if he doesn't get a good deal then he will lose potential clients. With that being said, Dak and his agent needs to come back to planet earth and reality.

Just do the 4 year deal for the lowest he will accept and spend the next 4 years getting someone else ready to take over. If they are ready in 2 years, trade Dak and be done with his foolishness. The last thing I would do is let him put me through this a 2nd time which he has already signaled he intends to do. If he gets us to the superbowl in the next 4 years and is still playing at a peak level, then I'll gladly give him the going rate in 4 years. The problem right now is he isn't doing that yet wants to be paid like he is. The team is in a tough spot unless they are willing to go with Dalton. I say get it done with the intention of developing someone else and having them ready to go ASAP so that you can trade Dak or simply let him walk

LOL, he will get the Tag for one year and that's if he's lucky they don't rescind and sign some of those FA DE that are still out there....
I'm sure they will just rescind like you told us they would. Nothing to worry about here. Dak is good as gone.

MORE GUESSING AND SPECULATION. I just don't get why people just gobble up all the guessing and speculations made by sportswriters and "insiders" like it's gospel truth and facts.

Makes sense. His team wants a 4 year deal. They insist on a 5 year deal so they ask for a outrageous number like 45. Just give him the 4 year deal and get this over with.

That 45 number is for them to agree to a 4 year deal.
Exactly. This really shouldn't shock anyone, because if, as has been reported, the hangup is the 5th year, the entire point of Dak wanting to stick to 4 years is so he can take advantage of the then current market when that 5th year rolls around. Accordingly, if the team wants to get that extra year there would need to be added incentive for
Dak to agree to it. Otherwise, just do the 4 year deal at a prices a little above what Wentz and Goff got for their 4 year deals.

No way he finishes the season as the starter for us....save this post to refer back to it when reality hits hard!
He's been pampered enough and we have suffered enough....NEXT PLEASE!!!

Obviously dak is being more than fair here.
Sure.

His representatives are absolutely protecting their client and maximizing Dak's opportunity. I don't blame them at all, it is literally their job.

They are basically saying "You want that 5th year? Fine, you're going to pay for it."

It doesn't but that's irrelevant. Him wanting a $45 million base salary in 2024 is completely irrelevant in regards to the guarantees or initial 3 year cash flow. Fifty year salary is all funny money. His guarantees and cash flow aren't linked to his 2024 salary in any way.

No, it's not irrelevant. Come on guys, do your homework. If a deal is really only 5 years in name, that means that you have to figure out a way to make the money work with the cap in 4 years and really, it's 3 because in that 4th year, you are trying to get a restructure done. Upfront money matters.

The Cowboys use 5 year deals to create cap by using extensions and pushing money out into future cap years. This kind of deal negates any of that and brings all of the pressure of the salary hit into a 3 or 4 year period. This is a bad deal because it basically ruins the way in which the Cowboys manage their cap. This is an attempt to entice the team to just do a 4 year deal and allow them to get back to the table in actually 3 years IMO.

Unless I read it wrong, they want the cap hit to be 45 mil in the 5th year.

asking for somewhere like north of $45 million in that fifth year'

Which doesn't mean much. In 2021 Big Ben and Matt Ryan have cap hits exceeding 40mil

2022 Kirk Cousins cap hit is 45mil

I don't think neither Ben or Kirk will be around to see that money. Kirk maybe, but it will be restructured into a signing bonus. I also, do not anticipate the cap going up as the NFL is projecting.
