Who cares what he did in preseason. After the 2nd sack adjustments should have been made. It's what all coaches do. Before you try to flex your keyboard muscles you should think it through fully.

It was the regular season where he played well.

They did make adjustments but when you are down and trying to score you can't be leaving an extra player in to block every down.

At the time I couldn't fathom what happened. Maybe it was arrogance that Chaz Green can play. But looking back...just another prime example of incompetent coaching. And some fans will tell you blaming Garrett is a cop out but that game was arguably the biggest stain on his career. He sat there time and time again watching Dak get killed by this guy. Completely buried Chaz Green and almost did the same to Dak. Chaz Green was a young player at the time and Dak was in his second year. Should've protected him more that game.

For the rest of the season, Nate Newton just kept saying "you don't let a young QB get hit like that" because no-win situations like that can set back their development, or even ruin them, and from Atlanta on, Dak's numbers just tanked.

Dak's QB Rating, by quarters of 2017
90.1, 107.6, 64.3, 82.8

That wasn't Cooper getting beat on that film. It was Green and Byron Bell. Two guys with no business lining up at left tackle. But the Cowboys 'brain trust' thought differently and we saw how that worked out.
Stash, what the hell are some of these guys looking at when the post their nonsense?? Copeton was fine - Green was the little ***** all game long.

Who knows? What I do know is that Green started the season at left guard and he sucked there too. When he got hurt yet again, Cooper came in at left guard and seized the job and never let go. And the line and the offense improved significantly as a result. Cooper played so well in fact that the 49'ers gave him good money to leave. I think injury was once again his bugaboo there as it had been for his entire career. But the fact is that the guy played great for the Cowboys that year and Green sucking had nothing to do with Cooper.

I read a Sturm article earlier today that examined the failure of the Jason Garrett era and this game was cited in the article. One thing that Sturm pointed out that I'd forgotten was that despite the beating that Dak was taking thanks to the Green vs. Clayborn match up, the Cowboys were still in that game in the 3rd quarter only trailing 17-7. They came out of halftime and Alfred Morris and the OL were steamrolling the Falcons with the run game. They ran the ball all the way down the field and into the red zone and what happens after that? In typical Jason Garrett fashion instead of continuing to pound Atlanta with the running game they foolishly throw Dak into the shotgun on 1st and 10 inside the 15 yard line and he's immediately sacked again. Drive derailed. Game pretty much over.

Garrett is such a loser.

I can’t wait to pound the Giants with that red headed schmuck jag off running their offense. Can’t stand him.

I wish everyone had access to that Sturm article. It's one great example of ineptitude after another.

That game reminded me of the Commanders game when Romo was sacked like 7 times. With the Blitzer coming off a stunt up the middle.

I remember on hangin with the boys podcast the next day. Nate Newton said something to the effect of.
“You can’t allow a young QB to take a beating like that. Because it’s going to affect him and mess him up and take him a while to get back to normal afterward”.

Nate was spot on.

Troy Aikman was sacked 11 times in 1991... Next season was the first of 3 superbowl wins.

Dak gets sacked 6 times; well... he needs time to recover and adjust, cause he's a young guy.

Mentally weak.

Jesus would he be so lost........some incredibly frustrating to have to sit through those games.

Yeah, when it's 'by the book', our offense could really tear it up. But when the unexpected happened? Yeah, we were never prepared for that and things usually went badly.

Even this past year against the Jets, Gregg Williams blitzed us all day, confused our blockers, and banged and battered Dak all day. Playing backup tackles sure didn't help, but it was clear that our offense overall wasn't prepared yet again.

If this has been posted, I apologize, but my goodness

What in the Wide World of Sports was a'goin on in this game

Garrett was punishing Dak for audibling out of the playcall.

Dak was changing Garrett's plays but running Linehan's.

Garrett said,

" I'll fix your little red wagon. buddy.

I am leaving Green in all game.".

See ya on the bus after the game, dude."

The rest was history.

It's like a computer.

If you flip "Do not download upgrades" switch in Control Panel..

your computer will stay exactly as you bought it.

A year later it will not boot becuz its hopelessly conflicted.

Off to the computer repair shop and take your wallet.

Call in 2 weeks. We will have your estimate. The order will be ready after we get the parts from the manufacturer 30 days later. Add 2 more weeks before we call you.

We will have to find your repair ticket first.

In the meantime,go see our computer sales department. We have having sales that might be cheaper and faster for you.

And we need a $100 bucks estimate fee. If you decide not to have it repaired, we will dispose of it for you and just keep the estimate fee for our trouble.

Thanx.

This is how the Cowboys under Carrot Top operated.

No changes.
