He doesn't get Ints. That's a different argument than being bad in coverage
kinda is related. Why can't a player do both? When your giving up that kind of capital, said player BETTER be special.

2 ints, 25 PBUs, and 3 DPI in his 3 year career. Byron Jones the last 3 years? 1 pick, 25 PBUs, and 6 DPI. Byron must be worse in coverage by your standards.
we are in a passing league where ints are needed badly. Fair or unfair, that's the world we are in. Turnovers matter. We need a dynamic safety. If he can do that, I'm on board. But not giving up a 1st rounder.

ADAMS FOR A CONDITIONAL 2ND AND A 3RD AND I WOULD BE ON BOARD. The 2nd rounder can become a 1st depending on his performance in 2020. A deal like that and I'm in. Performance based.

I see a lot of our fans complaining about our safety play, but then saying they wouldn’t want to pay big money to a safety.
no problem with the money..lol it aint my money. For me, its about performance and compensation. VALUE. Adams would help us for sure..but we gotta understand what it is we are getting. He's a alpha dog..more of a box guy, can play SOME coverage but not great at it.Hes a leader, so that's solid. Earl Thomas is elite in comparison. Adams has a lot yet to prove before we call him elite.

Why do you think they signed Clinton-Dix? To sit on the bench?
Depth really.

He has a chance to start but remember, when we signed him we hadn’t yet drafted two CB’s in the first four rounds.

Doing so has allowed us the possibility to move Chido to FS, something he himself has acknowledged as a possibility.

George Iloka, who knows him l, said the same and the coaching staff, I think it was Nolan, said that one of our veteran CB’s could see time at Safety

Combine that with the fact that HaHa is really average at best and I think we would be fortunate if We never had to count on him as a starter.

I like to quote Sturm on this.

“HaHa takes the “safety” out of “Safety”

And Sturm would know as he is a die-hard Packer fan since birth and has likely watched every snap HaHa has played.

He has a name, and one pro-bowl appearance and he would be great as depth. I just think we could do better with Chido at Safety I’d one or both of the new CB’s are able to have early success.

this has the look and feel of a fake story. Giving up premium draft picks with a new coaching regime in Dallas seems like a recipe for failure. Let MM pick the players and build the team. No dumb trades. NOW, if the asking price comes down a bit,MAYBE I pull the trigger.
What part of acquiring a 24 year old two time all pro wouldn’t be part of letting “MM pick the players and build the team”?

For all you know Jamal Adams is his favorite defensive player in the league and he’s begging Jerry to make it happen.

Drafting and developing rookies is not the only way to improve your team.

Lol

why not a fifth and a bag of beans?

mans ehen you say “performance based”, I hope you’re not talking about a contract because young two time all-pro players don’t sign incentive laden contracts. It just doesn’t happen.

He’s been in the league three years. He was a second team all-pro in year two and first team in year three

what else would be “a lot yet to prove” before you decide he’s a great player?

By the way, Earl Thomas, who has had a fantastic career, has been in the league 10 years and been all-pro three times, the last year being 2014.

Totally agree. IMO Clinton-Dix is an upgraded version of Jeff Heath. Terrific backup but I would want a better player in the starting lineup.

Couple thoughts:

1. If Dallas traded for Adams and signed him to a big extension, he immediately becomes the most likely candidate for lead dog on your defense. You could argue D Law, but IMO he is a beta. Adams is most definitely an alpha. Texas kid. All Pro. Born leader. Worth a 1st and 3rd? Debate-able. But you would definitely be getting more than just a talented safety.

2. This would be an “all in” move by Dallas. There are times when you have to take your shot. Are they a SB contender with the coaches they have added? The free agents and draft picks they have acquired? If you believe they are knocking on the door of making serious noise in the playoffs— then pushing all your chips into the pot for a guy like Adams makes sense. He is an elite player that (apparently) is available— doesn’t happen very often, and he would immediately add a lot to a defense that is being remolded.

Our offense looks great with a high ceiling. Our D looks to be improving, but landing Adams would be a huge piece that would go a long way towards solidifying the back end and giving the whole unit a stronger identity.

Yes, we would have a quieter offseason next year in terms of acquiring talent— but there are definitely times to go “all in”— I am good with that bold a move and price considering the coaches we have.
VERY well said. I couldn't agree more.

Problem is there are plenty of people here that dont understand the kind of player he is and what he would bring to the defense and team overall.

Trading picks for vets doesnt always work out well for several reasons, but I'd probably pull the trigger in this case.

Problem is....I dont personally believe NY would do the deal for ONLY a 1st and 3rd.

If it were a 1st, 3rd and Connor Williams I'd probably do it.

I would strongly consider a 1st and Gallup before saying no.

This isnt at all a case where NY needs to dump him. They are going to want a LOT, or they will just keep the unhappy and unpaid Jamal Adams.
