Find a rumored “source” that makes the team look bad or unreasonable. You find those and you *might* be seeing something out of the Dak camp.

All of the opinion is slanted one way, in favor of the team and against the player

It happened with Zeke
It happened with Tank
It happened with Dez

Now it’s happening with Dak

These aren’t isolated incidents.

It’s a pattern and it’s a planned and calculated strategy

Once we get past our love for the team and our crying and gnashing of teeth anytime something, anything, appears to threaten the illusion, it really becomes obvious what has been happening here forever

Ineffective strategy..considering they cave in every time..so what's the pur?

The Cowboys made a huge blunder by not signing Dak immediately after his 3rd season. He had a more reasonable agent back then.

Dak took all the risk when the team made him play out his contract. Now they have to pay. That’s the trade off.

Based on what? He's good enough for a 32 million dollar franchise tag but he's not good enough to hold out in a contract year? You are talking with your hatred for him. Let's be logical now.

I only recently got turned off of Dak. He's not a guy that can carry a team whose depth has been gutted because of his contact. He's a nice QB but not someone who isn't easily replaced with a tier 1 draft pick or middle or decent FA. If we let Dak walk we could have improved with Brady. There's always options and if not I'll take being bad for a year not to have to pay an average QB top dollar. Rookie QBs been coming in and playing well right away here lately.

Just let him walk at this point. He's not good enough to hold the Cowboys hostage.

After Dak signs his multi-year extension to be a Cowboy for life:

I'm not gonna talk in circles about how good or bad Dak is. We can easily agree to disagree there. But one thing we can deny is "he's not good enough to hold out". That is a flat out lie.

Heck the Cowboys can easily go 8-8 with Andy Dalton just like they can go 8-8 with DAK....so why pay 35mil to go 8-8

I guess it depends on how we define “cave”

Zeke got the top RB contract at the time. Tank and Amari did not

I would agree though that it is ineffective.

Not only that, but it’s short sighted. It makes your own player look like a jackass to the fans.

They seem to think that all is well as soon as the deal is done and their shady dealings are all forgotten but fans remember all the negative stuff they put out and the players remember also.

You’d never get a straight answer out of them even if you could get someone in the media with the balls to ask the question in an interview.

Owners have been doing this stuff for ages though. It’s nothing new

I would like to see the entire team with a year under new coaching and see what happens.

Our abysmal special teams alone cost us at least one game and maybe two.

If Dak plays under the tag, and it’s looking increasingly likely that he will, we will see what’s what

And if the team wins the division and a playoff game? Well, look for Dak to continue to bet on I’m self, since Jerry and Stephen won’t, and play a final year under the second tag.

Then he will leave and we will pray for DiNucci (lol) to be the savior. And our fans will hate him forever

The Jones’s may be about to reap what they sow

mid the team sucks, again, look for the same outcome only then Dak will be left holding the bag. And our fans will hate him forever

really, the only way for him to come out of this not being hated by a big chunk of fans is to win the super bowl

That is not the only possible reason. You are not considering the fully guaranteed amount at signing.

I’m sure Dak’s 3 year ask was that all 3 years be fully guaranteed...like Cousins. Assuming $35 mil per season, that is $105 mil all guaranteed the moment he signs his name. That would $35 mil more “fully guaranteed” money than than Wilson got at signing. It would be $39 mil more than Wentz.
g
That would be a tough pill to swallow for any team.[/QUOTE

I respect what you are saying but I my main point is why does it seem as though the Jones's are more concerned over length than amount. Perhaps I;m wrong but it seems that way.

Also, I'm trying to picture a scenario where a quarterback that performed at his level during the first four years of his career would suddenly flatline, especially considering the talent surrounding him, talent that he is extremely familiar with.

Does Dak Prescott seem like he has a lack of motivation to continue to work hard, learn, improve and win? This is not his third or fourth contract, These are going to be the beginning of his prime years. His skills have not receded, they have improved to the point where he was given more opportunities than he had during his "busdriver" rookie year.

Getting back to your point, a five year contract with the same guaranteed money wouldn't be much of a difference if he defies the laws of probability and ends up being a terrible quarterback as some fans insist. I suppose he would be cut sooner than later. The Cowboys wouldn't want to suffer his descedsion into mediocrity for more than a season or two. Whether it be a 3 year or 5 year he would get the guaranteed money.

I still get the feeling as if Jones knows he will be a consistent quarterback and, as he progresses through his next contract, he could well end up being the kind of quarterback that can win the game when other areas of the team are struggling. It just happens to be that Jerry is once again fighting the wrong fight. This should have been the fight he fought with Dez's contract back when, perhaps Zeke's. Dak'sontract should have taken priority over every other player he has signed since the beginning of last season.

I agree with what you are saying for the most part but to think Bill France is sitting there tight-lipped would be naive imo.

Because 8-8 isn't the freaking ceiling....who in the hell is striving to go 8-8?

the ceiling for who or what. The Cowboys have been a .500 team for some time.. be stupid to pay 35mil if the best a QB can do is 8-8 or 9-7. Average QB don’t make 35mil.... give a QB 35mil if they are difference makers not home setting on the couch watching the playoffs

Was he greedy making peanuts the last 4 years?

At what point was he making peanuts? This is not accurate, not true. He was banking through endorsements and we all know that. He also was not forced to play for a very little amount of money. He could have played for much, much more, had he chose to. The reason he was playing for the money he was is because of the decisions made my he and his representation. The team offered him restructure. So I guess I'd ask, was he really making peanuts the last 4 years and if he was, who's fault was that?

Dak's career is 40-24 so how have they been a .500 team for some time? Before the last season the last time they went 8-8 was 2013.
