Is There A Better Fit For Dak?

We’ve dissected Dak’s Cowboys future ad infinitum.

Considering all the many scenarios of his either remaining a Cowboy or departing, here’s a question:

Might Dak and his agent believe he could possibly be a better fit with another NFL team (football success, potential salary and endorsements, etc), rather than the Dallas Cowboys? If so, which team(s)? Personally, I don’t see it.

Haven’t really studied this in detail, but maybe some of y’all have.

Thoughts?

Well Miami just drafted Tua
NE is rolling with Stidham
The Colts are rolling with 38 yr old Rivers
Jags got Minshew
Titans with Tannehill
Raiders with Carr and Mariota
Chargers with Tyrod Taylor, and just drafted Herbert
Shall I continue, there are other teams,, just saying Dak does have more value than some want to think,, but is his value what he and his agent think its worth?
That's the true question

Who's the QB on Carolina? I can't think of him at the moment. But yeah, I don't think Dak gets a big contract this year if Dallas doesn't sign him. He'd have to wait until next year.

Good point.

However, other than Tua and Herbert (who, along with any of the 1st-2nd year QBs, are hard to qualify), all the QBs you mention are either retreads or works-in-progress. Also, every team you mentioned — other than NE — is either a bottom-feeder or no better than middle-of-the-pack.

Considering that Dak wants a shorter Cowboys contract, so that he might possibly in the future sign a second mega-deal, would it be in his best interest to go to a team which may not have the pieces he would need to excel in order to earn that second large contract?

But that's the point, that's reality.
That's the entire nutshell.

Indeed, cant argue that.
July 15 might crash this board.
@Cowboyszone... do you have your servers prepared for that date..lol?

My opinion is that they'll sign him before July 15th. Because if they're having trouble coming to terms now, it will only get worse if they try to sign him next year after Mahomes signs, and with several other teams probably needing a QB as well. So I think if he plays under the tag this year, he won't be a Cowboy next year.

He would be a back up most likely. Unless there is a injury. His best bet is to sign the contract and continue his endorsements here where he gets the most. If I were him I would sign the contract and not bet on himself another year. He injured his shoulder last year and should not have played the egirls game. Now we have Dalton so if he isn’t careful he will find himself making way less and being a back up for another team and hoping for a chance to start again.

I read that the only two quarterback's that played a season under the tag, Brees and Cousins, both signed long term contracts, with OTHER teams.

That's the history Prescott and Dallas are looking at if a deal is not reached this year.

At this point I hope Dak plays on the tag this year and leaves in free agency next year. I'll just root for another team. This fanbase is a disgrace tbh.

I'll be honest, I agree more with the don't pay him over the pay him people. But I'm not going to cry if they pay him. He's not average IMO. He's a very durable QB that never throws into double coverage. Those are the two positives I see as opposed to Romo. Two that I actually like very much. We still don't know how much Garrett had to do with this, which is why I'm still on the fence. People like me might be eating a lot of crow after next season. Time will tell.

Glim, are you being sarcastic, yet again, or do you truly believe this?

With our oline, RB, and WRs....
The better question is
“Is there a better fit for ANY QB”?

He will never find a better set table than he has here on offense

Sign the papers, Dak
175 mil...35 mil/yr ...110 guaranteed ...is a great deal

its either pay a qb that falls somewhere between 8-12 currently and is 26 years old or dont and hope to get lucky in the draft.

I've been super critical of him, but I might agree with you here. A lot of QBs won Super bowls that weren't the greatest. We have a 2-3 year window here. Give him a 4 year contract, what's the alternative? Go with Dalton? C'mon now.

My main issue is not with Dak, it's with the hard cap. It would be nice if they gave resigning drafted players a cap reduction. Then we wouldn't have all of these problems. It would improve the league IMO.

Well if our front office was competent they would have got the deal done last year for 32m and less than wentz and goff

Dak's agent has studied Jerry and determined that Jerry always caves. There really isn't much more than that. I have little doubt that Dak wants to be a Cowboy and the Cowboys want him. The agent is just waiting to break Jerry.
