Lol.LOL what????
you point to a game in which Romo out-dueled Peyton Manning and put up 48 points, while his defense gave up 51, as a mark AGAINST Romo?
now i know we're in the twilight zone.
we have the worst fans.
Not all of these were last games. Dude at least win one.LOL, is this real life? If you are just going to list the final game of every season that didn’t end in a Super Bowl then every QB in NFL history is going to have a list as long as their arm. We need an IQ test for this board, pronto.
I mean I know you're trolling, but at least try to make a decent post. Get someone who finished elementary school to at least vet some of these ridiculous ideas that come out of your head. It's embarrassing. Not all of these were last games. Dude at least win one.
At least get to a championship game,
At least win a playoff game two years in a row.
What’s is the requirement for a good Qb? Take off your Romo love glasses and be objective.
It stinks for sure. Tony was on some subpar teams.
As an example, Tony NEVER had a defense that would hold the patriots to fewer than 17 points.
I really liked Romo but as I have always said, stats are great, but all that really matters is results. Eli-led teams got them, Romo-led teams did not.
when Mannings excellent offensive line broke down along with his defense starting in 2012 He could not even get to the playoffs.
I think Manning is a first ballot hall of famer but that was a championship team because of its lines and its coaching staff. Just like Aikman's teams.
Rushing TDs ranked.. 2007 to 2012
Cowboys 10,22,17,21,30,27
Giants 7,8,16,6,6,5
This is what won Super Bowls. Cowboys on the other hand were a one dimensional football team. Giants in the top 8 five times in those 6 years. Probably close to double the rushing TDs.
The giants were able to run the ball because they had a fantastic offensive line. Big, powerful and smart. The defensive line was the same with incredible athleticism. Of course like all championship teams they had luck on their side also at some critical moments.
If miles austin doesn't lose a ball in the lights he catches a 60 yard TD that essentially wins the east for Dallas in december of 2011.
in 2007 the giants had luck in spades. The bills had them beat in December of 07 and a perfectly thrown ball hit lee evans in the chest, bounced up in the air and the giants caught it and scored. That was how december and then january went for them.
The 2007 giants were 3-5 at home and 7-1 on the road with their only road loss being at Dallas in week 1.
The big thing about this debate that people always overlook because they all hate Romo is that Eli Manning played in a stable situation. Tom Coughlin was in charge and there was no question. Stuff happened and Coughlin handled it.
In Dallas Romo had to deal with Parcells leaving then Wade Phillips being hired and showing complete incompetence from early on in being the guy in charge. They went from having a better version of Tom Coughlin to Wade Phillips. It created all kinds of issues and as time went on they came to the forefront. Not to mention The Jones family predicting super bowl every year and the entire world using you as a pawn for Ratings.
It's night and day. In the fourth quarter of the 07 playoff game coughlin took the ball out of manning's hands, they were terrified he would give the ball up and decided to punt and play defense on the final two possessions. That tells you all you need to know about how that team won.
having said that Manning was fantastic against Green bay in 07 and against San Francisco and Green Bay in 2011. He is a first ballot hall of famer.
Agreed. Not trying to downplay Manning. Just pointing out that the Giants scoring offense didn't just rely on the QB. Cowboys offense was not in the same category. Then when everything went south so may around here blame 1 guy. It takes luck, but also coaching, talent and points on the scoreboard. Jerrys handling of this team and his coaching hires after Parcells did Romo no favors at all. Just sad that there was quality talent here and it went to waste.
Stats are great participation trophies for people who fail to get results.Wow this is hilarious. To show you how ignorant you are and how little you understand the game let me rephrase this for you.
I really liked Marino but as I have always said, stats are great, but all that really matters is results. Dilfer-led teams got them, Marino-led teams did not.
I really liked Dan Fouts but as I have always said, stats are great, but all that really matters is results. Brad Johnson led teams got them, Fouts did not.
I really liked Warren Moon but as I have always said, stats are great, but all that really matters is results. Nick Foles led teams got them, Moon did not.
Pretty much. It was evident after the 08 season that wade and garrett were not up for this. Getting rid of them and hiring Mike Shannahan that year would have been pretty great.
That 09 offensive line had just enough left in the tank to win. Doug free would have been perfect for shannahan's style.
Free played great against New Orleans and San Diego yet Columbo got his job back...funny How Garrett picked and choosed who lost jobs to injury and who didn't. Free outplayed columbo and brought an athletic element they didn't have. Columbo got destroyed against the vikings just like he did in the second half vs the giants in the 07 playoff game.
anyway. Its 2020.

Do you think Tom Brady cared about his stats for the season leading up to a Super Bowl win?
Do you think Peyton Manning cared that his defense helped the Broncos win a Super Bowl his last season?
Stats are great when you are building toward something. A young player with great stats is something to get excited about .. why? because that player will hopefully get results in the future.
When looking back, there are a lot of professional athletes who never won a championship who would trade their stats in a heartbeat for a championship trophy, ring, etc.
To answer your question though, Romo, Marino, Fouts, Moon, Archie Manning, etc. were all really good quarterbacks, but none of them won a Super Bowl.
You can like and respect a player and their stats, but at the end of their career, they are remembered for their results or lack thereof.
Trent Dilfer was an average quarterback. He won a Super Bowl. Nick Foles was an average quarterback. He won a Super Bowl.
Stats wise, those two were nowhere near the previous quarterbacks I listed, but they led teams to Super Bowl wins, which is all that matters once their career is over.
While players are still playing, stats provide hope and optimism and are great for judging potential. Once their career ends, potential no long matters.

Trent Dilfer, Joe Theisman, Drew Brees
Reality be like - their the same quarterback.
I never said they were the same. If you actually read my post you would know that.Trent Dilfer, Joe Theisman, Drew Brees
Reality be like - their the same quarterback.
Garrett wasted Romo's career as well as many others. Garrett was a bum.
Both times he had a very good defense which carried them deep in playoffs and aided by couple of miracle throws and catches. But he won superbowl MVPRomo had no SB ring. That dang sheli has rings. Luckiest QB I have ever seen...
