The drama the drama.Ah, but there's the rub. Sources tell CowboysSI.com that Jets management remains irate about the October leaks regarding negotiations - leaks they blame on the Cowboys front office. We'd contend that the Jets camp and Adams' camp have also been fairly forthcoming with information, but the Jets think what they think.
I don't know if Dallas leaked the trade buzz but we do know that the Jets told Jamal they had no plans to trade him and then held trade talks a few days later. The Jest are horribly managed, both the Front Office and the coaching staff. I like Joe Douglas as a personnel guy, but his handling of Jamal Adams and Leonard Williams has me wondering. He inherited Adam Gase and if he doesn't move on after this season then I'll have to consider him a lost cause.
As far as any animosity towards the Cowboys, I'm sure the last thing the Jets want to do with the disgruntled Adams is trade him to his desired destination, so I'm positive the asking price will be more for Dallas, at least initially.
He's a great kid with a great attitude. He's outplayed his contract. 2 all pros, 2 pro bowls in 3 seasons. The NFLPA really messed up on not getting rid of the 5th year option. I mean for certain guys to play half their career being underpayed doesn't sound so enticing. Jets aren't strapped for cap space if they were smart they would sign him to a huge deal and front load some of that money while they have the space. Why draft a guy 6th overall have him ball out then not pay him. It's obvious he's better than the $13 million over the next 2 years. Down the road his deal will look like a steal. He's only 24 doesn't turn 25 until october this kid could ball out like crazy and every year you don't sign him the money goes up.In the third year of a 5 year rookie contract and making demands. I would ignore his demands even if he holds out. He can sit for two years and then get tagged to sit some more for all I care. It does not matter how good you think you are. You do not make demands like that in your third year on a rookie contract. He's good but his attitude is a problem. The Jets have already said they will give him an extension but then his attitude keeps reminding them why that is a mistake. Jamal's attitude is his own worst enemy.

If the report is true that Adam's is willing to wait on an extension and take a hometown discount, I'd be willing to trade a 2021 1st rounder for him.
Although I think the Jets have lost leverage, so a 2nd and a 4th may get a deal done.
He's already played 3 years and is going into his 4th. That's when you normally talk about an extension. It's also benefits the team more by extending the player at that time. That's if they want to keep him in the first place.
What this Mike Fisher failed to mention is that Jones has publicly said that he's is no longer interested in trading for Adams. Jones said that a few weeks ago when this Adam trade talk started by some insider who didn't really get the scoop from Jones. This part is just my opinion and that is if the Cowboys were just ONE player away from going all the way to the Super Bowl then maybe, repeat maybe, adding that player may work out. Now even the most harden fan will say that the Cowboys are not just ONE player away from the Super Bowl. For the life of me I just don't remember any Super Bowl winning team got there and won because of the play of a safety. A safety may have helped win some games here and there but has a safety ever been named the MVP of a Super Bowl? Adams is probably better than any safety the Cowboys have but he is not what's going to push the Cowboys to the Super Bowl and despite what Adams has claimed by not asking for an extension right away and giving the Cowboys a home team discount on his next contract to get the Cowboys to trade for him, once he is here he could decide that he wants to get paid huge bucks and knows that he would have the Cowboys over a barrel because of what they had to give up to get him. Again for a player that is not going to be that ONE player to push the Cowboys over the top.

Adams has a 5th year option being a 1st round pick and then after the 5th year the jets could tag him making it to be the 3rd year in 6 years the jets can control his destiny.
