Not worried about next year right now. And neither is Prescott. It’s the same thing since he’s come in the league. I played one season at a time prove myself pay me. It’s never been about the money. It’s been about proving himself and then the money

If you don't think it's about the money, you're wrong. It's always about the money.

Think of the logic. Football is a very physical sport. Prescott has been fortunate not to have suffered a major injury. So what am I going to do?

Play on the tag making 31 million or sign a long term deal making 100 million guaranteed?

Everyone is going to take the long term deal and financial security. Like I said, it's always about the money.

I just don’t like Andy. But I have to agree that’s what makes sense. LOL but wouldn’t it be something if the rookie really did meet him out

I don't like Dalton either but apparently the Cowboys think he'll do as a backup QB. I could be wrong but QB's drafted to be a starter that season is one thing but DiNucci was drafted in the 7th round and even though I don't like Dalton, I don't think the Cowboys will make DiNucci the backup QB and release Dalton.

The Cowboys and Dak will have three weeks to hammer out a deal.

Whether or not they'll manage to do so is probably anyone's guess!

If I were being held at gunpoint to guess, I'd likely guess it's the tag.
I wonder how much the seasons balance on the table will influence negotiations?

By July 15th we will have a little better sense of league will get started in time.

My instinct is we won’t have a season . And I don’t know how that effects contract negotiations.

With this offensive firepower, we could have signed Manziel off the couch to run it

I look at it as him getting some reward when he exceeded his 4th round pay. Evens things up.

Roughly 34 million total for 5 years at an average of 7 million a year but the beauty part is that he gets to drive the bus for just one more season and we are free to move on via draft, FA, or any other means.

I wish him all the best and a kindly adieu
What are you going to do when he signs an extension in 3 weeks?

There will be a season just probably with no fans.

I’ve read some critics that think about half of the QB’s in the league could have gone 8-8 with this offense.

Even Rockport could have gone 8-8 with all the meat we have on offense.....:omg:

Romo always got a contract. Never had to get franchised like Dakota or Kirk Cousins.
True, but Romo always played ball and signed a six year deal. A lot of the guys who were real buddy buddy with Jerry signed those deals and didn’t put up a fight. I can’t fault Dak for admiring Jerry but not just doing anything he says and signing a crazy long deal. Dak lets his agent handle all that. Of course a good side effect of that is there is at least a glimmer of hope that he really will play somewhere else...

OR....
Even a good old fashioned FAIR and legitimate Competition involving practices and pre season between the 2 in which whomever plays better, STARTS.

I mean Gosh Forbid Dak loses...

As you said, Ahhhh the carnage of this place would be priceless:)

It's the main reason to stick around
What "should" go on and what "will" go on are two different things.

Ignoring the business side and with somewhat unlimited time, a legitimate competition would be best for the team. But we know that doesn't happen. First team snaps are limited so teams are careful in their distribution. This makes a fair, legitimate competition limited in scope but is part of the NFL rules for preseason preparation.

Yeah you couldn’t answer the question either. Back under the rock you go troll.
The answer to below question???

So when in 2019 did Lawrence sign the tender before signing the long term deal? Anybody got a link?
As you can see....Demarcus Lawrence wouldn't sign 2nd Franchise Tag because of the injury sustained during 1st Franchise Tag Pro Bowl 2018

Hello.... it's only logical that Lawrence wouldn't play again on Tag after injury...

Stop selling wolf tickets ....Dak Haters

Lawrence had leverage and Cowboys capitulated a month later April 5th to give Lawrence largest DE contract...

Go back to your hole Dak Hater

I think you mean expected of a team. Because Prescott showed everything that was expected of a quarterback. Maybe someone wasn’t paying attention.
No, I meant quarterback.
Dak never showed up when the pressure was on. That is fact.
He would get the Cowboys close while the other team played prevent, but they shut him down at will when it mattered every season.
Dak thinks doing as he is told is enough, but it's not.
Dak is not a leader. Maybe McCarthy can help him with that.
At worst, he'll get a season of back pay while Dalton relieves him if he chokes this year like he has every other year.
And then he will be gone.
Or maybe he learns. We'll see.
