You can only influence those that haven't made their selections because the rest of us are done.

Hell, ec is ahead of you, he's doing a recount already. Thankfully, that isn't an Elvis movie.
if it were i'd go full high plains drifter on this place.

Hey ec, I thought about you last week while watching "God is Greater Than Elvis". It's a doc on Dolores Hart leaving a very strong career in Hollywood, after being his leading lady in "Loving You", to join a convent. She was engaged at the time and that man never married and still is in love with her today. It was a very thought provoking doc.

Hollywood thought she was the next Grace Kelly and she could have been the highest earning actress in the biz and just walked away from that and getting married for a very hard life. As I watched her smile and speak, I became envious of someone who knew exactly, without any reservations, what she should be doing with her life. Even after the Mother Superior tried to discourage her because of the Hollywood lifestyle.

Hell, I've lived most of my life and was never once as sure as she is about what I should be doing with my life. And would I have what it takes to make the sacrifices she made, she gave up everything every actress has been after since they started making films.

It is an inspiring story when those are in short supply, why did it take this long to tell this story?

It is Salma Hayek and Selma Hayek all over again! :banghead:

Thank you cowboyec. Your math is not wrong.

It was my error and not my spreadsheet's. The movie's title is "For a Few Dollars More". Both you and @timb2 nominated the movie.

I have been copying-and-pasting movie titles straight from IMDB.com into my spreadsheet. My thought was in doing so I would have exact spelling of all titles per each member's ballot. Done properly, my spreadsheet would tabulate all points assigned on each ballot according to each title.

That was the plan. So why is it that I copied-and-pasted For a Few Dollars More in your ballot list but copied-and-pasted A Few Dollars More in timb2's ballot list? What happened to the freaking "For" in timb2's entry? The spreadsheet counted 30 and 9 points separately instead of adding them because of the mismatched title entries. This kind of teeny-tiny mistake bugs the heck out of me. :(

I will revise the posted preliminary list soon and (will try to) re-check all 256 nominations again for accuracy. Thanks again.

It is not a hurt. It is a help. You keep on identifying mistakes cowboyec! Just so I don't get caught with my britches down. :D

I like this tournament format, which is why I am putting in the effort. This is the second one and participation has grown a bit more from the first. Hopefully, this kind of thing can keep rolling on and grow, keeping CowboysZone fresh. The effort will be worth it.

After the corrections, For a Few Dollars More kicked The Magnificent Seven down to the ninth most voted Western and out of the Top 32. Seven is one of Yul Brynner most famous films. Makes me wonder if I should be more afraid of Chris Larabee Adams or Ramses since Brynner is involved. :p

Dollars tied with Caddyshack in total points. I thought I already had a tiebreaker, number 3, that would break the tie. ha. BOTH FILMS HAVE ONLY ONE AWARD! So a fourth tiebreaker was created, "Film with the greater domestic box office adjusted by inflation."

All this brainstorming should prove handy if future tournaments are movie based. :)

The Man With No Name is cutting down the nets.

The only thing to be determined is from which movie.

New ballot lists may be over. If so, here is a snapshot of nominated films out of the Top 32, picked by participating members, that will populate the tournament bracket:

It may be premature but congrats @Boom ! Now we shall all soon see how many nominees each of us picked that will reach the Final Four!

So far, my one disappointment is not only nominating four out of the top 10 movies (The Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight, Aliens and John Carpenter's The Thing) but that The Exorcist will likely not make the tournament. It is my biggest personal 'Wow! Really?' lack of appreciation from my fellow participating members of them all. The Exorcist will turn 50 in a few years but it still remains my number one horror movie of all-time.

Now I will shut up and not jinx myself before any new members submit late ballots and blow up the 13 nominated films I DID support reaching the tournament. :muttley:
