Yeah, yeah...it's Pre-Season and we really won't know a ton until real games occur.

Every year we have a thread talking about all the rookies around the league and what types of reviews they are getting.

We all know there is always preseason hyperbole going on,
But many times there's smoke where there's fire.

For example, our own CeeDee Lamb really does appear to be the real deal.

Here's a thread for everyone to post updates, links, etc on the various news on rookies around the league.

I hope Burrows blows it up. Growing up just North of Cincinnati and the Bengals my #2 team after the Cowboys of course. Would really like to see them get back to winning.
They did make the playoffs from what, 2011 through 2015, but basically was like Garrett, on and done.

But they are decimated by injuries on defense in TC so far. Not sure how many are serious, need to go check to see.

Have not heard or seen about many other picks.

Not sure how their oline is coming together, but if they can get healthy, the weapons are outstanding
AJ Green
Tee Higgins
Tyler Boyd
Auden Tate
John Ross
Alex Erickson

That 6 deep is strong

Then RBs
Mixon
Bernard

2 under rated not talked about RB's.
I seen one of the WR's, but can't remember who was having some injury issues. But could be fine by now.
Yes, they had OL problems the last few years, hopefully they can get it together this year.
Their top 3 WR's may be 2nd to ours. But I think the overall depth may squeak out ours just a bit. Depending on how Smith, Wilson, Brown end up doing. Their WR depth have more experience is the reason why.

I have Smith as #4 for us, then Wilson and Brown, depending who stays healthy, if either of them do. But have Brown as #6 if they keep 6. Also depends, on id MM rather wants to keep more of a blocking WR in Brown over speed in Wilson. Because Smith has speed, and Johnson can push for a spot with his speed. But how many speedy WR's do you want, over a blocker and passion type guy that can rival a TE size in Brown.

Daniel Jeremiah: Eagles have been ‘blown away’ by Jalen Hurts - NFL.com
“I’m excited to see what they do with Jalen Hurts. And all reports I’ve got out of Eagles camp are that they have been blown away with — not only, everybody knows how athletic he is — but just how smart he is and how much of a professional he is. He just carries himself like a veteran. Everybody on the team has really fallen in love with him.

Can you imagine the gnashing of teeth if Hurts replaces Wentz?

https://www.denverbroncos.com/news/...per-cb-a-j-bouye-impressed-early-by-denver-s-

"When I watch Jerry Jeudy, he kind of reminds me a lot of Amari Cooper in Oakland with how he's running his routes, especially when guys are playing off," Bouye said Tuesday. "… The stems that he showed, leverage and how he attacks everything — he gets your feet to stop and that's when it's over. I like seeing things like that. It's just helping me game plan myself against him because you never know when other receivers are going to try and implement that."

The veteran cornerback's praise for the rookie receiver comes days after safety Kareem Jackson said Jeudy gets in and out of his breaks better than any player he's ever seen.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/08/21/dolphins-already-miss-ryan-fitzpatrick/

Tagovailoa completed six of 15 passes for 99 yards with two interceptions in Friday's practice. Rosen completed six of 14 throws, for 104 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Tagovailoa was sacked once, and Rosen was sacked three times. Dolphins missing Fitzpatrick.

Yeah, I know it is early but I thought Dak started off looking pretty good in his first practices. Can't remember for sure. Anyone remember? I know he looked good in his first preseason game.

https://raiderswire.usatoday.com/20...d-wr-henry-ruggs-still-working-on-connection/

Just about every day in camp there is a pass Carr throws for Ruggs that Ruggs has to slow up to catch. That’s in part an anticipation and timing issue — if Carr had recognized Ruggs was going to break open and threw it earlier the ball would have been in the right spot — and in part just getting to know the kind of burst and speed his new top pick receiver possesses.

It’s still early yet, as the first practice that had offense vs defense was just four days ago. No one is expecting perfection right out the gates. It takes chemistry and it takes trust which takes time.

https://247sports.com/Article/Henry...e-Jon-Gruden-Alabama-Crimson-Tide--150538303/

“Ruggs emerges as a deep threat for Derek Carr and also provides big plays in the return game,” Jeremiah said. “The Raiders find creative ways to get the ball in his hands (fly sweeps, reverses, etc.) and his presence creates more space for Josh Jacobs to run the ball.”

While Ruggs biggest virtue will be his speed, there is a chance that his touches could be limited as he continues to develop his route tree. Jeremiah said his worst-case scenario might levy on his ability to differentiate his routes against strong defenses.

“He has his share of splash plays, but the volume of touches is very limited,” Jeremiah said. “His speed benefits the offense, but his stats don't jump off the page.”

I wanted him if he fell to us in the third round.

https://www.newsday.com/sports/football/giants/andrew-thomas-lorenzo-carter-giants-1.48294635
Thomas wasn’t ready for what Carter brought on Tuesday. The young vet bull-rushed into the rookie tackle and knocked him on his backside among the hoots and hollers of the defensive teammates who were watching and the cringes of other offensive linemen who have all known that embarrassment.

https://www.bigblueview.com/2020/8/19/21375394/giants-andrew-thomas-knows-hes-not-in-georgia-anymore
Colombo had said recently that there are “few deficiencies” in the No. 4 overall pick’s game. Thomas was pretty forthright when I asked him what those deficiencies might be.

“For me, the biggest thing right, especially in pass pro, is my hands. In college I had a bad habit of having my hands outside my frame. So, I’m working on keeping my hands inside and getting a good strike,” Thomas said.

“In the run game just making sure I keep my feet, keep a good base because sometimes I get a little too excited trying to get to the block.”

Thomas said that the opt out by veteran left tackle Nate Solder did “not necessarily” add pressure to his rookie season.

“I’m just working every day to get better,” Thomas said. “There’s a lot of older guys like Cam Fleming, Kevin Zeitler, guys that I’m leaning on.”

I consider Wentz to be a very good QB but I always look ahead. If Wentz is injured and say misses 3-4 games next season with Hurts coming in and looking decent then they could trade Wentz. He's on a long term contract which for any team believing in Wentz would be more than happy taking on and the Eagles would recoup a nice draft pick or two.

I have been consistent with this angle and reiterate that we should have drafted Hurts in the second round rather than Diggs. Not just to provide us with a potentially very good QB on a rookie contract but it would have also hurt the Eagles who remain our main rivals in the division.

Maybe the Eagles drafted him to hurt us because they were hurt that we hurt them by taking their prized wideout pick. Lot of Hurts going around.
