Jerry probably wanted him badly.

Then Baltimore paid him in a way that was one of the most ridiculously overpaid contracts I can recall ever being out to anyone.

And yet, despite being given a massive contract and playing for a legit contender, Thomas still went out, loafed on defense, free lanced, showed up late for meetings, half assed it in practice and made pretty much most of the team want him out of Baltimore.

Why are people assuming he'll be a good soldier here?

BTW.....the team and ETs people are each very aware of the guarantee at week one.

That'll be part of negotiations if they get that far.

Each side knows what's up.

I honestly don't know what to think. My heart wants him and believes he'll be a good soldier here.................. but head tells me he was on a SB caliber team in Baltimore and making a ton of money and couldn't stop himself from being a total d-bag and pissing off pretty much the entire team.

Why would he act differently in Dallas? I'd keep him on the burner, I guess, but I might wait to see who gets cut first.

Very spot on....exactly why the deal has to have incentives in it and minimal guarantees....they need to protect themselves and give him a carrot

Honestly makes sense to wait him out until after the first week....unless they get him super cheap
He might not be around after week one. If he can sign for a 2 year low contract with some outs, the Boys would be stupid not to sign him. He can still play.

I don’t disagree but it’s got to be the right contract....there has to be incentives and minimal guarantees

Because he will be out of the league if he doesn't.

If you're Earl Thomas right now you have to be thinking about your legacy. He needs to cement it because he should be a HOF player but that might be in jeopardy.

hopefully earl is got the message that because of his a-holeness acts, he is considered poison and nobody wanted him. he thought he can do whatever and some teams would line up to sign him. even cleveland pass on him. SF passed on him, so perhaps he now realizes he better be on his best behavior. if dallas does sign him, I hope he is on a very very very short leash.,

This is an unwise assumption because this type of logic can be applied to many players who keep finding themselves bouncing around or in and out of the league. Josh Gordon could have been one of the best WRs in football and yet he can't keep his crap straight.
