Yes but Cam will also look fabulous behind the cowboys OL /WR / RB . Probably better results too , for 30+ million less .

Cam may look good the first game, but what about the rest of the way when he gets complacent, carries a grudge, and puts more energy into picking and wearing his outfits.

On a more serious note, if Cam can maintain this level of play the Patriots have themselves not only a one year bargain but maybe a long term starter if he doesn't ask for the moon.

Or they saved 100 million plus if Dak proves to be average again this season
Same crew of goofballs lying to themselves....
Dak has been far better than average.
Same as Watson has even tho he is 1-2 in the playoffs and Lamar Jackson has been even tho he is 0-2 in the playoffs.

You kids lying to each other doesn't change the fact the article mentions it is a consensus among NFL people.
No one asked the goof troop for their take.

You should be ashamed of yourself for posting this as legit information. No names of anyone in that article. And this gem:

"No matter how you slice it, Jerry made a $40 million mistake," said one "prominent agent".....

Who? Dak's?

It remains to be seen how much this will cost. Frankly...I'm okay with 40 million...because that would mean we're winning. You have a problem with that?
"Said an agent...." is all you need to read.

Conversations with general managers, agents and team contract negotiators revealed a consensus about both the magnitude of the Cowboys' mistake with this negotiation -- several sources independently suggested it will cost owner Jerry Jones roughly $40M -- and general agreement about how it will impact the team in years to come.

I do think it was gross negligence for the Cowboys not to get this deal done while he was on his rookie deal. The front office over played its hand this time and it will cost them more in the long run.
oh my god Im so tired of hearing people drone on and on about this one point. It happened. Lets all move on.

First, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that QB salaries go up every year. When was Jerry supposed to sign him and what tactic was he supposed to use to force a Dak to sign? The one thing no one mentions is that signing Dak at anytime over the previous two years would have been a huge gamble. Yeah, he was solid but not spectacular and there was not too much team success to speak of. Giving him the money he was asking for would have been a massive gamble. I’d much rather make him earn it, prove he is worth it, and pay more than over pay him and be saddles with a highly paid average QB for 4-5 years.
No, that's the dummy play they used.
They should have signed him before or right when they traded for Amari.
Definitely should have signed him when they saw what he did with Amari.
Definitely again should have signed him BEFORE they drafted CeeDee Lamb coming off a top 5 passing yardage season and 2nd highest club history.
Definitely again should have signed him BEFORE the franchise tag was locked and negotiating period was over.

Now they pay through the nose this season and any others.

This board is literally full of complete idiots still doubting this QB 90 minutes before he once again shows you all just how stupid you really are.

Some of our fanbase too ignorant & have so much hate on Dak that they just don't think it was Garrett for all those 8-8 seasons. How quickly they've forgotten Garrett gave Romo 8-8 seasons as well.

The two best quarterbacks since Aikman & Garrett completely wasted them.
Wow that is some awful grammar for someone calling other people ignorant. I always say, once you commit to calling anyone dumb, you really need to go over your spelling and grammar very carefully before posting.

No offense because I've always appreciated your contributions to the Zone, but other teams over paying their quarterbacks does not justify the Cowboys doing the same.

Eh, I wouldn’t be so sure of that but it would be interesting.

Whatever you're smoking I'll pass on because Dak isn't worth 40 million. He's not worth 33 million and JJ and Co know this.

The Mahomes contract is less than the Cowboys offered Dak in terms of percent of salary cap.

The Mahomes contract sounds big to uninformed fans/media because of the length of the deal; however, all NFL team's primary criteria for QB contracts is percent of salary cap.

In 2013 Aaron Rodger signed the biggest contract in NFL history. It paid 22M per season.
- If it had been 10 years, 220M fans/media would have been freaking out, but he would have been signing at an extreme discount.
- His extension after that 5 year contract averaged 33.5M instead of the 22M he would have been averaging if he had signed for 10 years at 22M per in 2013.

I get so tired of the personal insults because someone who disagrees can't form a coherent opinion based on facts. It's always the same. First comes the unbalanced extreme...."NO responsibility for ANY loses"....a complete misinterpretation of what I said.....and then a personal insult based on an assumption that the misinterpretation was somehow valid.

Look, when you resort to personal insults everyone else knows it's because you got nothing but an opinion based on nothing. You can do better than that. If you have a valid point, a logical one based on facts, then I would have no choice but to accept that. I am not stubborn in my opinions, a solid well thought argument can persuade me. Try it sometime. It works so much better then insults.
A lot of it is trolling man. They are trying to rile up the sensible posters on this site. I mean how else can you have that tone of a post on the first Sunday of the football season? He's bored and has nothing to do like most of the trolls.

The Rams would like a do-over on Goff.

The Eagles would like a do-over on Wentz.

The Cowboys get another look this season to make sure they want to do this.

You need to read your own posts. First of...a huge rant...you expect people to have clarity and sharpness form THAT complete and utter BS?

Forgive me if I didn't find ONE SINGLE Dak criticism in a 3000 word diatribe.

AND...you just chewed someone's ***s for their opinion but expect me top honor YOURS>

So excuse me if you have ZERO credibility with me. Hypocrite ranter.
