Vander Esch just looked like such a monster in 2018.... It's sad how it is going. They are definitely going to have to go LB'er heavy in upcoming drafts and FA. Jaylon shouldn't even be a starter....yes, most overhyped "feel good" story ever.
it is sad. He is done in the NFL I think. Thats just the blunt truth. I dont think he plays another down this year.

I agree, he looked awesome his rookie year. Injuries have just crushed his progress.

The draft pick itself was moronic. Such a waste. There is a reason no one wanted him

he was a thumper, great tackler, always put a helmet on a guy. Good instincts. Not a great athlete, but just a good football player. Understood gaps etc. Jaylon doesnt seem to get it and he relies too much on his speed.

He was an inside LB. He could do all the things our LBs can't do now. He could stack and shed, he could read a block, he could fill a gap, he could turn a ball carrier back in, and he was a good solid tackler. All the things our current LBs don't do well. We fell in love with athletes and forgot that playing Inside LB in the NFL is more about heart and intelligence then it is about speed and quickness.

Tough lesson but there it is......

Let’s talk about why we’re in this situation. Jerry taking yet another known risk with a first round draft pick that he initially received wide praise for on this site and Jerry trying to send a message to zeke about holding out so he signed Jaylon way prematurely.

*Jerry also taking another known risk with Jaylon = wasted years
...in hindsight, I thought Jaylon was worth waiting for. Seemed like freak athlete. Boy, was I wrong.

Lee is still our best LB and it’s not even close, can’t wait for the 4 games he’ll come back for before getting hurt again. LVE might never be the same as his rookie year and Smith is always out of position
