DC talking heads on Cowboy's website seemed to be calling out Dak

Dak has 15+ games to prove his worth. As of now he is not even worth the tag. We will see. On to Atlanta. Dak has to out play Ryan.

LOL........see, this is the way a QB challenged fan thinks.

Its not Ryan against Dak. I can go all over the NFL this week and show you QB's that played worse then the other guy that won.

Ryan is going up against the Cowboys defense. His job is easy peasy. Dak plays against the defense.

Agree. But my point was in relation to the ability to make key plays down the stretch of a close game. Im not questioning the quality of the officiating throughout the game. Obviously there were blown calls against both teams game.
That's fair.

I will also add that I think the whole "clutch" term is massively over used by the media, us on here including myself at times, and everyone really!

For the record I don't think Dak struggles in the supposed clutch and I do not think he's mentally weak in sport during the big moments. He's fine. I think most players are - when a QB misses a big throw people just claim "oh he bottled it" when it's often not the case. They simply missed the throw!

My critique of him is generally his ability as a QB in the NFL. Nothing to do with the mental side.

No Dak only wanted 35 mil and would have accepted a 5 year contract as long as he was guaranteed not to be franchised.

But this conversation is not about his contract. It's about losing close games. Dak in this game performed well and made some clutch throws. The problem was a bad call IMO and 3 drop balls on 3rd down that would have continued drives which is a fact.

My point that you just responded to is why are players that are not performing not being held accountable? Dak did perform well in this game. Zeke performed well. Amari performed well. DLaw did not....again. Along with the OL. The coaches seemed not to be prepared. Our kicker did not.

I think he played.."well". Did he play great? Elite? No.

He threw a few very weird passes. And he couldn't identify and resolve the defensive line pressure. He's allegedly a mobile QB. But I didn't see him move away from ANY pressure.

He didn't mean 1 on 1 for godsakes.

Even TV announcers use that analogy...for performance comparison. Dang dude.....smh....

Did you see the post about our record when behind at the half? It is so obscene...and yes Dak shares accountability along with the rest of the team for it.

I do not believe we've talked about them being "great" THIS year.

That is why I said extending back. They haven't been great for awhile now. Nothing like Dak's rookie season. Been dropping off ever since with questions at starters now, and virtually no depth to speak of.

No it’s not Ryan vs Dak but the last time we played them Dak outplayed Ryan and we won. Ryan had better stats that game but Dak led us on the game winning drive and was clearly the best quarterback on the field that game. Guess what he also outplayed Russ In the playoff game against Seattle. If Dak is the guy, he is going to have to step up. He can and I think he will.

Unfortunately, this fanbase has carved out two clear factions - pro and anti Dak - and after every win or loss, those factions put all the blame or all the hype on Dak for the result.

The reality is he did not play well on Sunday night. He wasn't terrible, he wasn't awesome. He was just............... ehhh. He wasn't the sole reason we lost but he could have played better, like a lot of players.

In games like Sunday night, where the offense or Cowboys didnt get it done in the end, I tell myself I am not going to defend Prescott this week. I think he had a solid game, but at some point we need to win these games regardless.

Then the morons come on and that all goes out the window.

The offense tied the game and would have won the game, but MM and the refs took it away from them.

In close games these are the type of things that matter. We got out coached on both sides of the ball again. The defense was terrible. Those are the bigger issues yesterday.

It's not terribly surprising we got "outcoached". That is a good team with a super bowl system already in place.

MM you may be right the refs didn't do anything but call a legit OPI on Gallop. On Dak he did have a solid game , great 2nd quarter but didn't get it done again as you say he needs to get it done. We just have to see what happens the rest of the season. As for the D they gave up just 20 points. My fear is MM may be a JG just a little bigger one.

It's NOT "legit" because we see that non-called all the time.

The coaching excuses will end when the coaching actually contributes to winning. The defensive excuses will end when the defense actually contributes to winning.

When is this team going to have a legitimate defense? That is the real question you should be asking.

Now if your opinion is that we only have a shot to win it with this horrid defense if we have a QB like Mahomes then I agree with you.
If our offense could have scored one touchdown in the second half we would have won.

A) It wasn't
B) You don't call it even if it was

If they called that as OPI every time it happened, nobody would ever score.

I'm with you Future and I just said as much.

We see that no call all the time. In fact I watched another replay and DB put his hands on Gallop first. Then DB locked his arm....when they are both locked it's a NON CALL.

Unless the DB flops and dallas is preparing to score.

I've been saying this all off season. He was terrible in the clutch last year. No idea why we would pay this guy Russel Wilson money. Dak has the best weapons in football but is limited by his own talent ceiling.

Yep, if you are going to announce Dak as your franchise QB, then you need to have enough talent around him to overcome his shortcomings - like holding on to the ball too long, having receivers that get a lot of separation etc. You take Dak and put him on a team where he is required to make throws under duress and he will fold.

If our offense could have scored one touchdown in the second half we would have won.

So True.
Points For and Points Against. It ain't Rocket Science or Advanced Analytics.

performing when the game is on the line. when you need a drive to get into fieldgoal range to tie or get a TD to go ahead.

....and how has Dak done based on your definition? Sorry but 3-16 when trailing at the half is not my definition of 'clutch'.
