Still a lot we don’t know

The level of frustration we’ve seen among our fellow Zone fans after the rams loss surprised me a little. But then when I thought about it some more, I realized after Coach Vanilla was let go and Big Mac brought in, along with a good draft, the assumptions for an automatic turnaround were huge. Throw in 25 years of frustration, and it’s a little more understandable.

But with very little time and opportunity to implement new schemes and learn new coaching styles, this team was in a learning deficit. NFL Turnarounds are almost never instantaneous.

Plus, after just one game, I still don’t think we know what this team is going to be yet. It takes time to cleanse a team culture and implement new ways of doing things.

I’m waiting until at least October before declaring this team anything.

I know that many here don't know what we know! You know what I mean?

It could be over by October if we don’t win Sunday.

Most on this Zone thought this team was primed to be a serious contender . Just needed a proven HC.

Now they’re backpedaling saying need more time or a possible rebuild. All a crock of crap.

If we had rolled Sunday there would be SB talk. Results matter and it puts everything in perspective.

Maybe. I’ll wait until October.
Conversely, if we blow out Atlanta by 30 Sunday, it also will not necessarily mean we’re headed to playoff glory either.
True. A win Sunday avoids the dumpster fire for now. And as you say doesn’t guarantee anything either.

As always winning cures many ills.

But if this begins to spiral then there will be some soul searching on what we’ve done. Or not done.

...good points, bullet. Although we lost last game. I still saw massive improvement on team. Imo MM let the game go without much HC interference. I think that will change this week, I see him getting more involved. The team chemistry has to Gel at some point. To early as you said. But we need to WIN doing so, which is the conundrum.

He had a enough time for us to have a game and see something that looked different from before.

The fact is that it looked like the same crap because it most likely is going to be the same crap.

They told us not much would change. I think we all kind of thought they were hiding something and no way would they be stupid enough to continue down the path of predictable boring football but here we are.

NFL turnarounds happen pretty quick actually. If you don't see the team turnaround pretty quick then it usually won't and it's time to go to the next guy.

Right now this looks like the we won't change anything year and then next year they will try to sell another year of McCarthy on all the changes he's making.

My reference to a quick turnaround means it takes more than one game to know if you have one or not.

One thing we will find out early, how well this team can circle the wagons.

The other challenge that we don't consider is if this is even a team yet? New faces on the coaching staff and the players as well and now there are 3 more faces not in the starting lineup. These people really don't know each other well and didn't have much time to get that done this off season.

The entire off season was not about the team, it was about the contract of the QB. That took over everything just as it did on this forum.

One thing this loss did, gave this team more motivation to come together as a team faster because if they don't, this season which could be the last as a Cowboy for some of these guys could be on the edge of failure.

They should not be lacking for a sense of urgency or underestimate any opponent.

Aslong as this team isnt beating themselves then im fine

what i saw sunday was disappointing but the Rams just out schemed us and took advantage of our weakness like teams are supposed to do

but the Cowboys didnt beat themselves they were just flat out beaten

I could not agree more, especially with no preseason to speak of considering the new coaching.

What we want to see if improvement as the season progresses. But at the same time, we knew we had some weakness at OL and some question marks about LB. When the cut Bernard we saw they were thin at that position.

If the OL does not get better, the season is going to be over quickly. I think the defense is likely to get better with more playing time.

The fastest way to know what kind of team is you have is to give them some adversity. It’s the ability to overcome adversity that make teams special- or the inability making them less than special. Only time will tell. Sometimes I think too many of our fans forget- there’s a reason champions aren’t crowned in September.

We have seen enough to know this team isn't a true contender. After the collective losses on defense and the reality of how bad they are, it will be a struggle to win on most weeks.

Combine that with the early problems on the line, then the loss of Collins and starting an undrafted rookie and you have enough to nip the production of the offense.

Now if we cant count on the coaching upgrades then we are in real trouble.

Can we at least declare them terrible at opening up new stadiums? Their closing down stadium skills aren't that great either lately, lol.

I was thinking about this the other day. Jerry wanted to open up the new stadium and when I heard that I wondered why? Of course the home team would be fired up to win in their new stadium and after it was publicized Jerry wanted the Ram was there any doubt they would be fired up to win? I would rather the Eagles or someone else opened that stadium.

They are still a contender, the problem is that the Rams are too and people forgot that.
