Cant we just have love for both romo and dak? Can't we just appreciate that the cowboys will have had two decades of qb play that can get you to the post season?

This one or the other talk is nonsense.
You can love both and do this. I liked Romo here I just couldn't' stand his fans that turned on Dak because Dak took his spot.

What stats is it to show that Romo is better than Dak though? Its not his playoff record or his wins........

Beats me! Just sayin.

Are you telling me no one ever tried to show Romo better than Dak?

Well okay...whatever. I can rephrase it if you wish.

Romo had some historically bad defenses and offensive lines (in terms of pressures and not necessarily sacks which Romo was often good at escaping and making plays). When the team and coaching surrounding him was good he delivered with playoff caliber teams. Had Parcells stuck around, I'd wager the team would have at least reached a conference championship game, possibly even a Super Bowl. After he left, it was a slow decline with Wade (even then a division playoff game was reached which ended when Romo was running for his life in the Minnesota game being sacked six times facing well over a dozen hurries) and then the coach in training took over. That was when the historically bad defenses happened along with the piss poor offensive lines remaining constant until they were slowly improved by 2014 due to the presence of Will McClay where they should've won in Lambeau but lost. Then Romo got injured in 2015 and again in 2016 and so it was effectively over for him. To compare the majority of the teams he was QBing under as far as talent was concerned compared to what Dak possesses now as equivalent is simply absurd.

Just heard on 105.3 the fan:
  • Both Tony and Dak have had 5 400 passing yards regular season games.
  • Tony went 0-5 and Dak is 4-1.
Obviously you never go into a game planning on passing for 400+ yards, but it seems like Dak delivers more often than not when he is forced into those situations.

Feel free to discuss.

We know who the real stat padder was.

Pretty small minority that you use as a thor hammer on everyone who dare criticize Dak for anything.

that’s an easy one.......show me the pick numbers in those games. I bet romo has a lot more.
This is correct, and a better TD/INT ratio. Romo does have more TDs.

Dak: 12 TDs / 5 INTs
Romo: 16 TDs / 10 INTs

True but Romo also did not have the luxury of a good Oline till latter part of his career. Though that was the case yesterday as well and Dak had a hell of a game.
I believe the state of the offensive line has been greatly exaggerated after 2016:
  • 2016: Smith, Leary, Frederick, Martin, Free
    • This was the 3rd (and final) year of this offensive line
    • This was one hell of an oline for anyone to play behind
    • Yet Romo still was unable to stay healthy behind this line
    • No one other than Romo or Dak was able to win even when playing behind THIS line
  • 2017: Smith, Cooper, Frederick, Martin, Collins
    • Cooper (who was a big pet cat of mine during his draft) was a big downgrade from Leary
    • Collins rookie year was not pretty and most were saying he should be moved to OG
  • 2018: Smith, Williams, Looney, Martin, Collins
    • Fred was out, and while Looney was not terrible, he was average and a big downgrade
    • Williams rookie year was not great
    • Collins was still getting flak for being pretty inconsistent
  • 2019: Smith, Williams, Frederick, Martin, Collins
    • Fred was back, but far from his old self (probably why he retired after the season)
    • People was calling for Williams to be replaced and/or benched
    • But at least Collins FINALLY played like a stud and after getting paid
  • 2020 so far, ya, not good.
    • The Rams dominated them and Atlanta was dominating them early in the game until a couple of their front 7 defenders went down with injuries.
And none of those included Smith's yearly "miss almost a quarter of the season" and his backups have been trash that Dak has to deal with EVERY FREAKING YEAR.

Maybe none of those were as bad as some of the Romo lines, but there has been absolutely no consistency in the oline since Dak has been in the league.

Its a major point that the Dak trolls stay away from. Dak rarely pisses the game away or is the reason we lose with picks and big mistakes. Keeps us in games.

Easy to see the increased value in a QB like Dak if we had a defense that generated turnovers.

Why do you guys look for things to argue about even after wins?

The arguing after wins stat would be more alarming than Dak/Tony 400yd games.

Because people come out and say ridiculous things. Today alone I have heard:

-the defense played well in the loss
-Zeke was awesome and is the best RB in the NFL
-That call to go for 2 instead of kick the FG was a great call.

I did not mean anything "mean" about it. I just knew that some of the responses to this little factoid would bring up some interesting responses.

For the Record:
  • I FULLY supported Romo, and am so happy he has found success post-football
  • I FULLY support Dak, and will do so until he is no longer a Cowboy
  • I have no hate towards either even though BOTH have disappointed me at times
  • Maybe Romo should have been given the chance to start again in 2016
    • But I understand why the coaches did what they did
      • The team was hot
      • The team was behind the young QB
      • Romo was seemingly unable to take any semi-serious hit without getting hurt
    • So Romo did not get his shot and there is nothing we can do to change it
    • And unfortunately some posters, this has ruined Dak for them and he will never be good enough
    • Its sad really

I hope that clears it up. I was not trying to be a jerk.

Romo was like our owner, high risk / high reward. When people want to make a case for Dak being in the top 5 QBs though, one could argue he should have more TDs without increasing the INTs.

Goes to show just how horrific those defenses were that Jerry trotted out during the Romo years

I mean typically if you are throwing for 400 yards it means you are behind because otherwise you are clock killing in the 4th quarter (or you are the Patriots/Saints from 2007-2014 and just throwing every down).

Minus the fumble, I’m not sure I can find a complaint for Dak. Maybe don’t make Cooper make an amazing catch down the middle, but those aren’t high percentage at baseline.

Always the exaggeration to make a point. Who are all these people that wants to make a case for Dak in the top 5?

Its like you haters are reduced to Dak not being worth 40 million or being a top 5 QB.

Honestly...…….its game over. None of you even thought he was franchise QB material. What ever happened to "average"? What ever happened to "bus driver"?

Are you admitting you were wrong about those things?
