The quickest way you can tell yards don't matter is look at opinions of Kellen Moore

Dallas was #1 in yards last season

Guess what they are #1 in yards this season

Yet people would cheer if Moore was fired today.

Does anyone really care about being #1 in yards when they missed the playoffs last season and have started 1-2 this season? Who is going to care if Dak throws for 10000 yards this season but they finish 7-9 or 8-8 and miss the playoffs again?

Jameis Winston threw a league leading 5109 yards last season, does anyone think he's an elite QB?

71 points should be more than enough to win two games. The reason it's not had little to do with one end of the game drive a lot to do with sloppy turnovers and bad defense.

This year we are spending $8 million dollar less on Dak alone then we are on our entire defense (not just the starters, all of them). He is being paid to get enough points to win the games with that defense. This is the problem. If you pay more to get better players on defense can you afford him and all the people around him on offense?

Yards don't matter, points do. When you have 34 yards rushing, no wonder the passing yards are higher. Kind of like when Aikman passed for 455 vs. the Vikings in 1998 and lost 46-36, with 44 yards rushing from Smith. When you're not balanced don't expect to win a lot of games consistently. I doubt many blamed Aikman for that loss.
They blame Jerry for not Drafting Randy Moss and having to watch Him ,,C.C,and Jake Reed roast our aging secondary on Thanksgiving Day.

"NFL is now like the NBA. It doesn't matter what you do all game, it comes down to the last 5 minutes."

"400 yards is offense is not a a big deal anymore. Throwing for 400 yards isn't that hard to do."

True.

Mos every team comes back from big deficits. Used to be rare in Troy's day.

He added that CBA negotiations these days bring the owners more money and players less practice time, and it shows.

Wasn't criticizing Dak or quarterbacks in general, but was inferring that the league as a whole had changedichanged and is less disciplined.
Completely correct.

All the records will fall but its as though they were playing two different games.

its changed a TON just in the last decade, ket alone 30 years ago.

impossible to compare QBs stats unless the are time-adjusted.

I'm curious to see how he holds up once the pieces start leaving because of his salary. Tom Brady's single best decision was to sign for a lower salary to keep a competitive team around him. That's what got him those titles. Had he not done that he would have won a single titles and been like Rodgers.

Brady's team friendly contracts were grossly over stated. He didn't insist on being the highest paid quarterback, that's about it. But when I looked at his cap hits they were still within a few million of the highest paid QBs.

That's why you look at the whole of a QB's performance not just one stat. Winston's problem is between his ears.. He has elite talent but apparently the mind of a 12 year old. I sincerely hope Payton is able to get him straightened out because I really do think that if he can get his head right he could be a fun QB to watch. And frankly I just hate to see anyone squander that kind of gifts.

I agree with Aikman. 400 yards in a game or "setting records" for total yards in a season is waaaay overrated.

It's what you do when it matters. At the end of every close game, when we need 80 yards in 90 seconds, Dak goes into his 3 yard pass to Schultz routine. Or three yard dump to whomever. I'd like to see that stat of last play drives and the average distance the ball is in the air for Dak. Kellen isn't calling a 3 yard out to Schultz. A huge indicator of a GREAT QB is his red zone ability, and end of game ability.
Agree. It is an offense Freindly league, and most QB will throw around 350 yards a game . It is about red zone accuracy, less turnovers and solid defense to go to the superbowl . Dak has shown no signs he can overcome cowboys defensive deficiencies with his arm and accuracy and dissection of defenses . It is not his strong suit . This is why he is a big liability at 31mil + . Just look at cam doing a good jib at 7 mil a year .

Very accurate assessment from Troy . It is about red zone accuracy, reading defenses and winning .

We can wave our #1 in offense next to our #1 in revenue banners while we continue watching championship games and Super Bowls at home.

Troy is right and the Cowboys are the poster boys for this the last couple of years....lots of offensive numbers but no championships. I think Jerry is fine with that to be honest, exciting enough to draw in the crowds but if they dont end up in the SB, its fine, business is still good.

Man F you guys man lol....you guys sit here year after year with no complaints. Now "yards don't matter". But I sat here and watched you imbeciles sit here and complain that Dak couldn't throw for 200 yards. Now its yards don't matter. Everybody does it even though I just sat here watched the MVP of last year throw for 97 yards. I've seen Ryan Tannehill throw for 80 yards.

It only matters what you do in the last 5 minutes....alright well Dak had a 31-30 lead in the last 5 minutes and the defense opened its legs on 4th down to Greg Olsen...

So classy those words of yours but Dak hasn't beat a good team in nearly 2 years. He's inaccurate, with balls behind the wr's, etc... Then the int's, fumbles, combined with the lack of ability to read defenses and react with accuracy are all contributing factors that lead to Loses!
NEXT PLEASE!!!!
P.S. And if you think some team is going to give this bozo of a QB top 5 money GL with that.....maybe in Wakanda if they have football there lol....
