I’m not disputing Lambs talent. I’m suggesting it was a luxury pick we couldn’t afford that hasn’t placed us any closer to a championship run this year for not addressing more pressing needs with positions of weakness which will more likely prevent us from a deeper on run.
I'm for drafting, and player acquisition generally, for the long haul, not just to make *this* year the best. Spend assets for long term value. Particularly draft picks. Don't pick for need, pick for long term value. Lamb was *by far* the BPA.
If we want to fill holes *this* year, fill them on the cheap in free agency. And yes, on the cheap. Free agency *not* on the cheap is the worst cap value in the league.
If you want to complain about *this* year, complain about them not getting better S help in free agency, and then just giving up on Dix. AFAIK, he's not injured. Should have just kept Dix and hoped he turned it around unless and until we picked up another veteran free agent S.
Could also complain about them not doing more at C. Joe is a fine backup, but not a guy we should *plan* on as the starter for a season.
