I assume the medical protocol would be the same for anyone out of the league coming back in.

Irving would be a good signing this year to convert into a comp pick next year. I'd sign guys like Thomas and Irving this year for potential comp pick conversions. They've got talent, They just need to show the league that they can play for a team w/o causing problems.
