How many times to we hear that Player X is the greatest Prospect since HOFer Y ..... and that player ends up being a monumental bust?
Having said that, a team WITHOUT a QB should jump all over Lawrence ASAP. You have no shot without a QB, you have to make that move.
But for a team with a QB that is a Top-10, maybe even 5 QB in the NFL, that would be one of the riskiest, and potentially most devastating, moves one can make.
Had Dak played like Dalton in his playoff games, I would completely agree with not paying Dak. But Dak shows up almost every game, even if the rest of the team does not.
So ya, I pay Dak then look to dump the actual bad contracts we have given out (DLaw, Zeke, Jaylon). Even in extremely likely chance we can't find any real difference makers in Free Agency (teams don't let those guys just walk), at least we can have the room to keep the guys who actually seem to care.
Or we can draft a QB, use up the only real valuable resource that could be used to draft a real difference maker at a position that we are NOT good at, and then talk about how our #1 overall pick can't win against any good teams either.
But to each their own, I guess.
