The Jones' are the common denominator to the madness and dysfunction. It's been whispered by some in the know (Aikman, Sanders, Parcells, etc...) that the Jones' run a club med type culture, so it's not surprising but is incredibly disappointing to hear Bart Scott say this. And the Jones' won't allow a strong enough personality in the building again that will challenge this culture. Parcells was only here long enough to get that new stadium financed. I thought McCarthy would have been a stronger presence by this point but I think he was desperate just to get back in the league.
Further, the fact that Stephen and Jerry won't hire a GM to make the personnel decisions, is the reason why the start almost every year as paper champions and then crash and burn. Case in point, a strong GM would have franchised Zeke or let him walk. I said this when he was holding out. Example: Steelers. Yes it hurt to let a talent like Ladaveon Bell leave the building, but they knew they could find that production elsewhere for a much cheaper price. And that investment they would have made at RB, gets put into their defense, which is rock solid year in and year out. I mean look at the cap hit the Cowboys are taking for Zeke. Almost $10M this year and $12M next year. When you consider the production they're getting from him, it's maddening. When you look at the top 10 players by cap hit, the Cowboys are getting little to no production from any of them, either due to injury or just poor play. We won't even get into what Jaylon Smith's cap hit is this year and next. I will make you want to vomit. This franchise is a mess.
