And still consider yourself a fan?

I have pulled against them for a better draft position but now is different.

I love steak but this is a bad piece of meat so it's OK for me not to like it. I don't like this team.

I know that's a signal for some of you to tell me to hit the road and that I am not a fan but I can return to being a fan when they have a more likable team.

They're quitters, they're going through the motions but they've quit inside and odds are they don't like this team anymore than I do. They lack direction, leadership and like that team that Wade was fired from, they run from a fight. They talk the talk.

I dunno, what do they need a Morale Officer? No coach or player can seem to get them fired up, they can have a team come into their stadium and embarrass them and turn around an go into the lair of one of our most storied rivalries and not even pay dues to that. They just don't care.

The first time I had this feeling that there was a new kind of football player was that last game to close Texas Stadium with 100 former Cowboys invited to the game to close the House That Landry Built and most of those players helped him build it. The players interviewed after that game were livid at the lack of heart displayed on that field that night. They just didn't care. About the history or even being a Cowboy.

I do not think this is exclusive to the Cowboys because I've seen this disinterest in the game unless they're in it. Saw it last night with Aaron Donald on the sideline just chatting away and laughing on the bench while the game was being played. Back in the day, if the other player considered to be the best D guy in the game was on the field, Donald's eyes would have been off Mack on every play.

I do think the Cowboys have too many of those players and too many one year mercs just passing through for them to get fired up about being a Cowboy. It's just a job.

And there it is, how many of these players are proud to be a Cowboy? Is is just a team they're on until they get to their next one? Does that old saying "it's ok, I was looking for a job when I found this one" apply here?

This is why Ryan Fitzpatrick is one of my favorite players and the man has been on more teams than any other QB but when he gives you his sword, it's yours until you send him on his way. In that sense, he's a throwback. His team is the one he is on.

Hell, some of these players didn't get fired up to play the Skins and won't this week to play the Eagles because they might be playing there next season.

Maybe it's me and I am expecting too much in today's NFL but I really do not like this team and have a hard time pulling for them, even against the Skins this last Sunday and I really don't know how I am going to feel when they go to PHL this Sunday. I hate the Eagles but they've got heart and my team doesn't. And I hate that. They're not losers because they lose but when they lose heart, they lose me.

This team is a train wreck.

I'm just resigned to being entertained by Jerry and Stephen's arrogant incompetence. They continue to fail but refuse to change how they operate.

I don't care if they lose out.

Won't root for a beatdown, but like 2015, I just come to expect they won't be competitive this year and well I won't be "upset" if they continue to lose.

I think it’s smart for them to lose every game so they can get in the Trevor Lawrence & Justin Fields sweepstakes. So I’m rooting for what’s best for the team & that’s for us to lose. I don’t see them actually drafting Lawrence or Fields, but you could get a ‘Hershall Walker like‘ Kings ransom of picks for Trevor Lawrence & I think Justin Fields will be a beast as well. You could draft Fields and pay him ~$27mil x 4 years with a 5th year team option instead of ~$160 mil x 4 years for Dak & rebuild that way -or- sign Dak (a proven top 10 nfl QB) and they have ~11 picks (3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th compensatory picks + their 7 picks) this year & if they have a top 3 or 4 pick - I would trade it for more picks. I wrote an article last night about how Jimmy Johnson went from 1-15 to super bowl in 4 years.

It was 2 drafts that changed everything (89 & 91). They had a crap ton of picks in both of those drafts and built the 90’s dynasty.

I have been watching at it. I am upset about them not even seeming to try. Or care. And for the first time I turned off the cards game and went to bed. I have in the past turned the channel only to turn it back on a minute later.

I want to support my team because I love this team. But this don’t even look like my team right now..

I will always root for the Cowboys, but the current players are going to have to earn the respect I have for them like the players that came before them.
Most of these players don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the players we grew up and watched.

And I'm not saying just wins alone, but effort and fight. These players today don't have it in them and that's the depressing part.

Most players don’t care anymore, you’re right. There’s no organizational loyalty — it’s all about the bottom dollar and how much exposure they can generate for themselves for potential supplemental income through promotions, etc. Football is is a job to most, and rarely about loyalty and passion.

This is 100% evident in the 2020 Cowboys.

If they, the players themselves, don’t care about winning, why should I care if they win? No other fan or member of a forum can take away my “fan card” for me not really caring if the team wins in 2020.

I am a diehard cowboys fan. Have been since I was a child. I haven’t missed a game in 20 years. The team losing in the short term could help them out in the long term. Anyone call me “not a true fan” if they want, it really doesn’t affect me.

They're a train wreck OK, but they're still the Dallas Cowboys. I can't root against them, even if I stop believing they might improve this season.

Due to the salary cap, players are seldom disciplined any longer. And the players know they are virtually untouchable.

Really the only achievement I'm rooting for is Martin extending his pro bowl and all-pro streak to 7 straight years. With yanda retiring and brooks on IR it should be basically guaranteed.

That's really the only meaningful thing that will happen this year unfortunately

When the players quit, I think fans have the option to quit too. Why support someone who’s not going to put in the effort/care to play? I just don’t understand it.
But you mussssssst show undying loyalty and loooooovvvve every single player on the team, or else you’re not a true fan. Didn’t you know? Lots of people here will tell you that

..times have changed CC. I completely get what yer stating. Most players then knew it was a honor and privilege to play in the NFL. ...meh, not any more. Its just a high paying job, with a photo-shoot involved.

I see Larry Fitzgerald the same way you see Patrick Fitzgerald. Fitz is one of my favorite players today. Class guy, always focused, hustler, cares about his team, good man off-field.. etc. Yet still, at his age still trying to make a difference even small ones, in hopes to getting that elusive ring.
