Stop putting DLaw in the same sentence with Jaylon Smith

Dlaw plays hard but he’s no stud...

Jaylon Smith is a bag dog crap. There’s absolutely nothing he does well, I’m embarrassed just saying he plays for the Cowboys.

I know many fans wanna see sacks but he's the hardest working player on that D and honestly, it's nothing new. He always plays hard, with a lot of heart. Think some fans started hating coz the Hotz Boys thing.....

I agree 100%. And he’s played most of this year on a bum knee. DLaw hasn’t lived up to his contract but he’s not loafing or half arsing it. He’s arguably the best overall defender we have.

No joke.

DLaw is a good player. Yes, he's paid like a great player, unfortunately, but he is a good player.

He's overpaid, but easily one of the best players on the team. He is the main reason the Cowboys contained the Eagles. Jaylon Smith is flat out one of the worst LBs I have seen this year on any team. I would still feel that way if he was making league minimum. Did you see him sidestep to avoid Kelce on that running play when Crawford was completely blown out of the gap by said Kelce? That will make for some embarrassing critique on film day.
How about when Wentz ran for the first down and Jaylon saw him coming past the LoS and continued to follow the receiver or TE, whichever it was, rather than turn around and stop Wentz? His idiocy is incomprehensible for a starting LB in the NFL, much less one with the payday he's gotten.

To the people who think he's not playing up to his contract, do you not realize what is needed for him to do that? We know he plays hard. He gets close to reaching those sack numbers that a lot of us want to see. You know what he doesn't have that would inflate his numbers? An interior pass rush. A consistent pass rush from the other side. We all know he was coming off surgery last season. This season he came in at about 70% and even that is better than what we have. It looks to me the last two weeks he's rounding into shape and is as close to being 100% as he was in his contract year. If you think he's an average guy, watch more football because you're clueless.

It's really starting to pizz me off watching this guy look awful on a weekly basis. Can't imagine what the coaches are feeling.

D-Law, apparently, is like the 4th rated player at his position according to PFF

It doesn't show on the stat sheet...and it barely shows during the game, but you can see that he's playing with effort and heart.

He just has very minimal help along the defensive front. He's really the only player that should be starting for an NFL roster along the DL.

Absolutely. However, what makes you clueless is that you don't even appear to understand that putting talent around him takes money, and that his bloated contract is one of the reasons why we're having trouble doing so.

Yeah, Tank's a stud. Never stopped putting in the effort, never stopped beating his man.

Sacks are a fickle beast and the law of small numbers kicks in there (if you rush a quarterback 400 times a year, the difference between say 5 sacks and 10 sacks is 1.2% of your plays breaking differently - very prone to fluctuations or flukes), but he jumps off the page in every other metric. Don't want to hear that he's coasting after his new deal.

Try this one

Neither Dlaw nor Jaylon Smith are playing at the level their contracts warrant.

It’s pretty simple....dlaw disappears constantly and Jaylon Smith is lost, both are overpaid and that’s the bottom line...dlaw is playing better at his position but it’s the same result
funny how dlaw numbers are down but the DE on the other side in 2019 blew up. Quinns total this yr? 1 sack. Aldon smith is getting the cover of Lawrence on the other side and hes on pace for 10 sacks. Why? Because teams are focusing on the other side and settling on a one on one matching for any DE opposite lawrence.

Jaylon Smith isnt the only LBer struggling all of Dallas Lbers are struggling...Why? Because the DTs arent shielding them from the OL. Theyre being swallowed up because the DT play is very bad. Instead of watching with a biased eye try learning the system Dallas runs. Try understanding what the Interior DL is supposed to do to cover the LBers so they can flow to the ball and make tackles. Ask yourself why is the DC leaving Smith on a slot WR when its known coverage is not his best suit. Ask why is the DC forcing players to conform to his system instead of him putting his players in spot to succeed instead of putting them at a disadvantage. He makes some stupid mistakes yes, but he makes good plays too. DT play has been the downfall of this team the past 2 yrs.

Yea DLaw is top 3 at his position being paid....Jaylon is not. Definitely deserving of criticism in a sentence that is all about him.

Right....I felt like Dolphins regretted that move soon as they did it. They drafted a corner too. They are building their team from the corner....not sure if that's smart.
in today's game I would build secondary, then d line, then lb
