It's actually quite easy: "We're in the middle of the season and focused on this season. We're not thinking about next season's draft yet." OR "We're not in the business of letting the other teams know who we're looking at or what we plan to do in the draft."

Bottom line is Jerry isnt thinking top 5 pick at all. He is still thinking playoffs. He probably thinks no way we get that high. So he is just being political.

But the fact remains that if the Cowboys get a top 2 pick in the draft, Jerry would be an absolute idiot not to consider drafting Lawrence or Fields. And everyone here knows I am a big Dak fan. Whether its to develop them, trade them, move the pick, whatever. If they were to pass on one of those top 2 guys and draft say a linebacker that would be a monumental blunder.

You dont get an opportunity like that say a few times in your life. Simply cant pass it up.

I’m not ready to totally give up on jaylon yet.... but it does speak to Jerry’s problem. He’s afraid to admit a mistake... has to be proven right. Just like when he kept garret here for too long. They’ve invested a lot in jaylon.. it’s a great story he doesn’t want to let go of.
