Video: Dallas draft plans?

I also dont think Lawrence will be in play for the boys. However if better judges than me advise that this draft is defence light, coupled with several factors

1. Daks recovery
2. Daks contract
3. The revised reduced Cap.
4. The opportunity to acquire FA targets at reasonable cost due to the cap problems.

I would seriously think that a QB would be in the right move. If we go back to 9-7 or 8-8 football again its deja vu time. Perhaps a play for a QB, some targeted additions via the draft, plus a few quality FA would be the way to go.

If any of these QBs "fall" there is going to be a reason why. W better know that reason before using a high 1st round pick to take one. I am not convinced Trask is in the same league with Lawrence and Fields, and when all is said and done, I am not convinced Fields won't be the Jets pick if they pick #1.

There is a lot of time between now and the draft. Things are going to change a lot by the end of April.

So lets pay mr. average QB $40 MIL a year, all the saving left over from over paying all the offensive players to prop him up can be used to build that championship D, that's a real smart plan, funny how it hasn't worked out yet paying him on a rookie contract and kinda funny to look how the D improved when they paid 31 million to the QB. Yes you make total sense lets build with all those savings we get by not drafting a QB if they have the opportunity. Going to be a non issue anyway, Both top QBs will be gone long before the Cowboys draft and Jerry is so football stupid he will pay Dak and pinch pennies on the druggies, hurt, washed up hopefuls to fill out the D, that's how it works in Dallas and why with another yes man MM coaching it will be more or the same..
well show me an average QB? where is the stats to back up average? and where did the $40M figure come from? it seems like you Dak detractors ever month push that number up by 5M.....I guess next month its a $45M argument.

and lets just say, for the sake of your argument...we pay 20M to Dak....fix the defense with the extra 15M you have...who would you sign in FA that would make this defense good?

come on dude...you are grasping at straws..

second, its been totally debunked that paying Dak would stop us from signing players....and I find it extremely funny that you want to build a defense through FA....when was the last time any team build one side or other side of the ball through FA.

you Dak detractors keep mentioning we can't build a team if we pay Dak....we paid dak 31.5M this season and have cooper, martin, smith, smith, collins, zeke, lawrence whose contracts are among the top 10 in the league. furthermore we were able to hand out mid level contracts to the likes of griffin, crawford, poe, mccoy,......so paying one player doesn't stop you from signing other players....its not like you are signing all of them in one season and contracts get manipulated by teams all the time...

so your argument hold zero water because its not even a pale, its a tube with no bottom, the water just ran right through it.

the problem is signing the right players, drafting the right players. so tell me einstein when was the last time this team drafted an impact defensive player.....how many players in the past 10 years?

you want to build a team through FA....good luck with that....again, show me a team that was built through FAs

Hey Dak, What have you done for me lately???????? That's right NOTHING and Nothing in this league doesn't buy much. I believe Jerry wants Dak as much as Dak wants Jerry. I believe they sit down and make a deal that satisfies both parties. That high pick everyone is going gaga over will be used on the D side of the ball. BOOK IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How's paying Dak this year working out for you? Dak isn't signing for 35 so the difference from say 38-40 million to a 7 million QB (Rookie contract) is 32-33 million each year for 4 years for D, is that simple enough for you or should it be broken down even simpler for you. 33 million buy a few high quantity FA's and and with two or three good picks not the broken hopefuls Jerry likes. Like it or not the reality is Draft capital and major resources were spent to hide Dak average and the ROI has sucked so far and if you can't see it you are blind. As for stats Prescott you and everyone knows who those stats are against and it isn't quality teams. Dak's 5 year experiment sucks to this point, not good against quality teams, availability not so good this year, 2 wins in 5 games, but he sure racks up stats, Cowboys MVP so far is the kicker who bailed him out or it would be 1-5 and the 1 needed help from a scrub QB. You do not have to worry Average Dak will be signed by stupid Jones for two reasons one is so Jerry can say he is his QB and that is sad. Senile Al Davis was smarter than Jerry at any point of Jerrys GM tenure and the second the Cowboys will not be picking 1 or 2 so Dak average will squeeze the $$$ from Jerry and the suck will continue. You can't be this stupid but it appears you are a low level moron to believe the garbage you post. There is no Jerry draft that is going to boost this D to a top 5 D with out a few high level FA signings not the dreg's Jerry and son like on the cheap. I guess LVE was garbage, just stop looking like a idiot and face the facts mediocre is the standard for the Cowboys and that leader is Dak as you yourself say.

how is it working out this year? the offense was doing great with Dak...

the problem is defense. when you go out and sign 6 FAs to rebuild your defense, its a clear indication that you screwed up the draft. if you have to sign 6 defensive FA, you had a pretty crappy defense....if we had another 15M in cap to help the defense, we still would have a craapy defense...so don't try to spin this....like I have said, you can sign a key FA here and there...but you never build a team through FA. there won't be enough money no matter what.....

and we have clearly seen the effect of not having a good QB behind center...so now you want to draft a rookie, where most QB picks in the draft fail than succeed. I don't say that. history says that...now you want to build a defense, to compensate for a craapy offense, so it better be an all time best defense ala Ravens or Chicago did several years back. who are you going to find in FA that would be that impactful....who was available this year in FA that we couldnt' sign that would have been impactful..

you are trying to compensate and address a systematic issue with dallas organization through signing FAs...the issue is this team needs to change the way they evaluate players, evaluate defensive players and focus on defense....this past year Jerry couldnt' resist to add another WR to the team...CD is good, but did we really need another offensive weapon!!!!

and again, list the high quality FAs that were available, and tell me how we would build a top notch defense...and show me one team...one team that built through FA...

and Dak's stats have come against good teams too. you know, everyone knows it....its the same for ALL QBs in the league..... your word against mine!!!! show me stats, compare it to other QBs...otherwise you are just winging dude.

and , you avoided answering my question...when was the last time we drafted a high impact defensive player?

answer me the questions: when was the last time a team built through the FA and won anything? who was available in FA that would be impactful defensive player?

this D is far from being great. it has to happen through draft, there is no way in heck we can build a defense and have a respectful offense through FA....

LVE Not impactful (for the second time), what about Lawrence, Diggs looks pretty good so far, believe what you want but like many Dak guys you twist and twist and never look at the whole picture and avoid the truth. This team had a top 10 D last year what did that super O achieve 8-8 no play off and disappeared against the good teams and threw in a garbage 9 point outing with the playoffs on the line, yes that's what we want more of. A team is built with draft and good FA's and a QB at a reasonable price or a QB on a rookie deal with a top D, as for the O doing great yes against the dregs as usual that is the O identity. This team is built around Dak with all the draft capital and contracts handed out to hide his short comings and the D is a last thought simply because Jerry believes Offense wins championships when in fact a great D with a vey good O will win and that is not happening paying Dak the kind of money he wants. Want a Blue Print look at the Patriots ( there are a few exceptions if the QB is Mahomes, Rodgers, Wilson and Dak can't carry their jock straps so it doesn't work) make any excuse you want, no way NE are paying Dak bloated salary demand for good to average QB play but heck you know more than Belichick but sadly even less than Jerry.

LVE not impactful enough given his injury history which he had from college.....he has spent more time not playing games, than games....so no, as Parcells used to say, an injured player is no use to him...

Lawrence impactful..great...he cost 20M and has gotten 4 sacks in past 16 games...yeah, he is one heck of a edge run defender for 20M!!! money not well spent....

I am leaving out anyone in 2020 draft......the book is still out on them...

what about Hill? Taco? Jaylon? passing on Ramsey to take a RB in the top 4!!! when was the last time we picked a good defender, impactful one in rounds 3,4,5? there are way way way more bad defensive draft picks than good ones. the two you mentioned aren't impactful enough!!!

Dak detractors, pick a very specific, peigeon hole stat, like his performance, in the 3rd quarter, between the 13.15 mark and 2.34 mark of games played on sunday at 4 to try and proove a point. they always do it in a vaccum.....and this year is the best indicator of what Dak meant to the team. same offensive personnel, even getting a couple of injured playrs back and the offense dropped from 37 points a game to less than 7.....and according to you guys, anyone can step in and out perform Dak...go figure that one out!!!

and let me ask you a question. you get one chance.... is wins/losses all on the QB? does he get all the blame and all the credit?

and who is your reasonable priced QB? who is going to come in an succeed? you all were salivating and thumping your chests on Dalton...we saw how quickly that fizzled out, but I am sure there is a white paper of excuses about to be written by one of you on why Dalton failed.....

which Rookie QB is going to come and lead this team and have success? are you saying any Rookie QB? you get one chance to answer....

so how many teams have copied the patriots blue print? how many have bilicheck as their head coach?

and you, and me can sit here an argue, but the NFL front offices know Dak's value....they are the ones who determine it... I just happen to listen to those who understand football, you tend to read national enquirer and listen to skip bayless...

Wow it is amazing your lack of understanding and inability to read and understand., Non exclusive tag him and then his value will be evident, What front offices do you have such insight to? I can tell you ZERO. So for you it is BS and fantasy football. As for smarts you would of picked Ramsey and then paid him 20 million a year it is amazing how you have all this money to spend when there is a cap. As for Zeke, should not of paid second contract but, he and the OL made Dak (and the Jones boys know it) and with out him no way Cowboys win half the games they did the first 4 years with Dak and him. Lawrence is very highly rated overall but hey with you 20 million for everyone and 40 for Dak no problem those super 4th and 5th rounders are all pros, just coach them up, Please read my posts to you as all your questions are answered but fundamental reading isn't your forte it seams or maybe its your Dak passion blinding you.
"as Parcells used to say, an injured player is no use to him" does this apply to Dak now??? Of course not it doesn't fit your narrative. Bottom line is Dak has taken this team nowhere, and to believe it is going to get better paying a average NFL QB elite money is just plain stupid. Pay Dak $38-40 million and no way this team gets much better than the mediocre team they are.

LOL.

yeah, you know what, I hope we don't tag him or sign him again, only to see another team sign him to a large contract, similar to what all of you are b!tching about and then Dallas goes on to suffer for years to come and rotate QB after QB....and watch you guys try to spin sping and spin it as you have been..

every analyst, NFL executives, former QB, HOF QBs have been signing his praises. an internet troll says otherwise along with skip bayless, perhaps Bayless is your uncle...perhaps

and I find it funny, that on the one hand people criticize Zeke, now call him the one who saved Dak, yet we have clearly, without a shadow of a doubt, unfolding right in front of us, live every week, the team, with and without Dak....so I question who made who? given the only difference really has been No Dak!!!...just too funny.

and Lawrence is highly rated...? ok....for 20M, should we expect to get 4 sacks....now I am starting to make sense of your drivel and mindset... perhaps we will spend 100M sign 5 lawrences and get 20 sacks total....that's how you build a defense right?

again, you avoided answering several simple, yes/no questions.

are all the wins/losses credited/blamed on Dak?

are you suggesting to build a team through FA?

btw, if you could read...often injured players....ala Lee and LVE....this is the first injury, during a football game with a broken ankle, if that's you definition of injury PRONE, then you are more clueless than I gave you credit....how many times has Lee gotten injured in practice, pull a hamstring, and be on the sideline...LVE had the neck issue, they knew about it prior to draft and knew about his injury history...yet we drafted him.....same with Jaylon....drafted a guy that couldn't lift his foot when drafted....

Dak has been among top 5 rated QBs in the league for the past two years. he led the league in passing a game after he was injured and didn't play. and like I said, live, right in front of your eyes, reality of how good Dak is has been unfolding....same RB, same OL or better.....7 points a game...fantastic...oh, wait...the Dalton, the king of dink and dunk managed 7 points, your saviour of the cowboys went up in smoke....a guy with 7 years of bouncing around the league, having played in AAF managed 19.......still want to put Dalton on the throne?

Is Goldie Locks in our future?

Hmmmm...

actually only good debate they had all year and i agree its Lawrence or trade down..

someone send that to Jonses family make them listen..

however i doubt we get #1 so its moot point..

LOL.

Last reply , never was a Dalton fan or said anything other than wait and see what he can do, with the same OL Dalton drove to win #2 then OL sucks with scrubs and goodbye Dalton, and with scrubs against a very good D in Pittsburg GG didn't look much worse than Dak did he , in fact put # 4 on him who would of noticed, "a guy with 7 years of bouncing around the league, having played in AAF managed 19" may have put up more points than Dak could of and he didn't disappear for half the game.. Nothing worse than someone who states falsely about something someone never said or the name calling that starts, as for simple answers there usually isn't one except in simple minds . Lastly you trust Jerry to draft studs after picking , Lee, Jaylon, Gregory with premium picks, and disasters like Taco and Hill, come on you truly can not believe the drivel you are posting. You might want to go to night school and take a reading comprehension course or two. Like they use to say RIF.

simple Math...19 is less than 37 or any other number Dak has put up, but go ahead spin spin spin spin spin spin....

and you have refused to provide any viable alternatives that would make this team better, and even backing off Dalton (funny).

all you have said, is I don't want Dak, but I have no idea who I would replace him with that would be better for this, nor have you provided any ideas on how you would spend the money in FA....

you are waffling, spining and sinking...very rapidly

Agree with Walker.....
Here's a question.......lets forget Dak's contract for a second, can anyone otherwise guarantee this kid will have BETTER stats than Dak after 4 years??????. Because guess what he's going cost us 4 years and we still won't have a SB but I'm sure the same fans will wanna draft another QB rather pay him likely close to $50+ per year.

Look I'm not saying the kid is not good, but like any draft pick, until he face everything he'll see on Sundays from an NFL defense ( players and coordinators ) every week AND be successful, we don't know. We KNOW what Dak has seen it all and moded himself into a top 10 QB. Not sure many realize the time and investment Jerry and Stephen have made developing Dak into one of the best in the league, only throw it away and start over. That's not the way it works. It's why Jerry calls the idea of drafting Dak replacement crazy.

If we get the first overall pick.....I see exactly what Walker suggested. Jerry puts a for sale sign on it, sit back, and wait for the best offer.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cowboys decide to pick one of those CBs or a LB on the upper portion of that list. The need is there.
An off the ball LB would be awful in the top 5. So would CB for that matter. Trade down and stockpile picks to get one or two starters and shore up depth.
