Video: Dallas draft plans?

This would be the year honestly. We have a ton of comp picks and will be picking high in every round. The other 8 picks can go defense
but impact players are first two rounds....you want an impact player on defense. 2nd rounds and lower are gambles, you may hit, you may not. its probabilities of finding an impact players, I understand there are no gauarantees. probability of finding an impact player in higher rounds is much higher than mid rounds. its much higher in top 5, than in 2nd round.

we have to spend our high resources on defense, else we will never get over the top.

Trade down for a team that needs a quarterback, collect more draft picks, fix the defense and offensive line.

Exactly
Jerry is not gutting 2-3 drafts to get a QB, but if Lawrence is actually available he will take him
And while that’s so obvious there is nothing gained by stating the obvious publicly

Exactly, if Jerry see's a player that can make him money...he is on board.. Jerry is all about the making money.. The Cowboys are about the family business

If we are picking I the top 3 we should make a play for Lawrence. Jerry would be a fool not to. If we get the 1at pick Lawrence should be the pick without question. You have him on a 5 year rookie deal compare to Dak’s 4 year mega contract. The money you save you can the defense. I like Dak but this is a business and when opportunity presents itself to pick a generation talent like Lawrence you don’t even hesitate.

I don't like getting into these things before the season ends for the obvious reasons nobody knows what's going to happen between now and later. Or in the least until Stephen takes his Johnny Manziel away.

But.....

If IF I were going to guess I'd start by pulling up the top 50 prospects and dividing those into offense and defense. For defense you only have 19 players who likely make the crazy train Johnny card this year.

Micah Parsons LB Penn State Junior 6'2" 245 lbs Big Ten - East
Gregory Rousseau EDGE Miami RS Sophomore 6'5" 260 lbs ACoast - Coastal
Patrick Surtain II CB Alabama Junior 6'1" 203 lbs SEC - West
Caleb Farley CB Virginia Tech RS Junior 6'2" 197 lbs Atlantic Coast - Coastal
Shaun Wade CB Ohio State RS Junior 6'1" 194 lbs Big Ten - East
Jay Tufele IDL USC RS Junior 6'3" 315 lbs Pac-12 - South
Dylan Moses LB Alabama Senior 6'3" 235 lbs SEC - West
Aidan Hutchinson EDGE Michigan Junior 6'5" 278 lbs Big Ten - East
Eric Stokes CB Georgia RS Junior 6'1" 185 lbs SEC - East
Paris Ford S Pittsburgh RS Junior 6'0" 190 lbs Atlantic Coast - Coastal
Jaycee Horn CB South Carolina Junior 6'1" 205 lbs SEC - East
Quincy Roche EDGE Miami RS Senior 6'4" 235 lbs Atlantic Coast - Coastal
Tyson Campbell CB Georgia Junior 6'2" 185 lbs SEC - East
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah LB Notre Dame RS Junior 6'2" 216 lbs Independents
Jordan Davis IDL Georgia Junior 6'5" 330 lbs SEC - East
Kwity Paye EDGE Michigan Senior 6'4" 277 lbs Big Ten - East
Joseph Ossai EDGE Texas Junior 6'3" 245 lbs Big 12
Hamilcar Rashed Jr. EDGE Oregon State RS Senior 6'4" 238 lbs Pac-12 - North
Tyler Shelvin IDL LSU RS Junior 6'3" 362 lbs SEC - West

Naturally, the crazy train could get derailed, not make it to the station, and go offense depending on who goes before the Cowboys.

Its all guess how many beans I have in my hand at this point.

It wouldn’t make him money so much as saves him cap space
Jerry already makes more than any owner
From a cap perspective it is better to have players on rookie deals if you get the same play

Trask over Fields?
My top choice would be Traver but we all know we have zero chance of getting him or Justin Fields they will be gone before our pick also Justin might needs 2 to 3 years to be NFL ready.
I would take Trask for his powerful arm ,good height and accuracy . the guy has natural passing ability.

Trask is too risky. We will know if we can get Fields or Lawrence soon.

We would end up trading down only to have a team move up to take Trask lol
Only issue with him is the mobility but i am fine with it .he can compensates that with his pocket presence and work ethics

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cowboys decide to pick one of those CBs or a LB on the upper portion of that list. The need is there.

0% chance we get Trevor. It would be a kings ransom to move up
Why is it so hard to believe that the Cowboys will not win another game ? Many members of the media think that Dallas is the worst team in the league. The Jets and Jags may win some games.

I hope that he trades away multiple picks even next years first

I want this kid

so we want to spend another high draft pick on offense, and not invest in defense!!! OOOOKKKK, how has that worked out so far for you...

defense wins championships. offense gets you to the playoffs.....
So lets pay mr. average QB $40 MIL a year, all the saving left over from over paying all the offensive players to prop him up can be used to build that championship D, that's a real smart plan, funny how it hasn't worked out yet paying him on a rookie contract and kinda funny to look how the D improved when they paid 31 million to the QB. Yes you make total sense lets build with all those savings we get by not drafting a QB if they have the opportunity. Going to be a non issue anyway, Both top QBs will be gone long before the Cowboys draft and Jerry is so football stupid he will pay Dak and pinch pennies on the druggies, hurt, washed up hopefuls to fill out the D, that's how it works in Dallas and why with another yes man MM coaching it will be more or the same..

at last glance 3 worst.

I'm not certain whether Dallas will/won't go QB. But, this is a weak defensive draft, and not a deep one overall. IF they were able to go Lawrence 1st rnd, I'm good with it. Best prospect in this draft ala Chase Young last yr. Don't really feel the same way about Fields or Trask. If not Lawrence, then CB or the Penn St LB.

Oxymoron, their draft plans are who's falling, who's crippled and who's likely looking at a suspension but might play on 3 or 4 years?

I would wager right now that the two wins Dallas already has prevents them from getting the first pick.

True, they may not win again...depends on QB play and if other teams decide not to show to play them....

But I think that race is already over.
