As it turns out, the kid was framed ......... that's foul. He was a 1st round pick for the Giants. Almost like getting an additional 1st rounder for nothing but a rookie contract,

Armed robbery charges against DeAndre Baker dropped

Former Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker is no longer facing armed robbery charges.

The Broward County (Florida) State’s Attorney’s office announced on Monday that four armed robbery charges against Baker have been dropped. The news was the second development of the day in the case.

The attorney for Baker’s accusers was arrested on Monday after allegedly making an attempt to extort Baker. Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports that William Dean initially demanded $1.5 million and worked his way down to requesting $800,000 in exchange for his clients changing their statements about witnessing Baker rob people in May.

Dean’s three clients reportedly recanted their statements last week. The fourth person accusing Baker of robbery is not represented by Dean and did not show up for an October hearing.

Why not...

He'll likely have multiple offers if he really didn't do anything wrong.

He could opt to sign with a team that has a winning record; although, he has a better chance of playing time here.

The Giants dropped him because he wasn't forthcoming about the arrest and the situation, and his work ethic and play didn't warrant cutting him any slack.

If I'm the Cowboys, I don't even consider the guy. Baker is not a smart player, and you can't fix stupid. Combine that with a poor work ethic, and he's not worth the effort. Let him be someone else's problem.

I think no player should be excluded. This team is not overflowing with talent. The season is dumpster fire. These are the types of seasons where you do things a little different. You sign him if he is awful buh-bye in the off season.

I'm guessing no one read his wonderic or personal information stuff?

Like over 50% of the people who evaluated him on a personal level said and I Quote
"DUMB AS DIRT"
I get it Jerry Jones has money.
But he would literally have to employ three other guys to be with Baker at all time.

A teacher to teach this guy how to schooling.lol

A motivational expert. To teach him this is his damn job take it serious and don't go to sleep.

And a Security guy to make sure he doesn't do anything else dumb.

Js

I would give him a shot at Slot and see *** he has in the above three . But no way I'm trying to break my back for him
Can you say PAC MAN Jones?

Its been done before by Jerry Dumbo GM Jones. Why not with a 1st round CB on a rookie deal.

Don't tell me nothing about dumb, which has it own issues, when Baker was a 4 year player, 3 year starter, and qualified under the requirements to go to Georgia. He may do have done dumb stuff but he is not dumb.

We already know he makes stupid decisions OFF the field. Why would we want a guy who more than likely makes stupid decisions on the field?

I wouldn't be against signing Baker. Let's see if he can play. If he's bad, cut him.

It reminds me of the 1990's when the Cowboys were full of players that made stupid off the field decisions. If your name was Michael Irvin, Erik Williams, or Leon Lett, you got away with it because of the on-field production. If you were a Clayton Holmes or a Cory Fleming; you got shown the door.

Not really.

You ever been arrested?

I was on a mistaken charge of shoplifting in a grocery store.

It was thrown out of court like this was.

But I spent 5 days in county jail before bonding out.

But the whole time I was in cells with gang members and rapists and druggies.

I was scared to death. I say the guard beat the crap out of a 300 lb guy because he crossed a red line walking down a hallway.

In prison..you do not cross redlines. You stay behind them.

After I got home I had to constantly check in with the bail bondsman. I had to go to hearings at court and meet with my public defender. I had to review videotape of the store showing me shopping in the store. No theft was shown.

3 times the witnesses failed to show on court day. 3 times they failed to show and the case was dismissed.

All the while I could not sleep. I hardly ate. I would not smoke pot which would have calmed my shot nerves but I was afraid the court might ask for a blood test.

This went on for 4 months.

After I was still rattled and avoided grocery stores. It took me months before I finally started hanging with friends again.

So unless you have a clue about the law and how it does not work but can still understand how it can waste you money with lawyers..you do not have a clue.

I am still waiting for my waiting period to end. I have to wait 2 years to appeal the court to erase the charges for me and I can not be arrested or I can kiss that goodbye.

I have to hire an attorney this time..no public defender. He told me his fee is $1500 becuz it's criminal Court not civil. I have no choice unless I want a permanent criminal record.

So if you are not guilty..you are still guilty of being a chump u think?

You are pretty stupid if you ask me.

Sorry.

You asked for this.

The case was dismissed, but your record wasn't expunged? That's messed up.

It’s a pass for me. If I were in charge I would avoid all dumb players going forward. Baker has ability but he is a dummy.

No why bring more negative press to an already bad team?

We need to stop signing problematic players off the street. Hasn't gotten us anywhere. Yeah his charges were dropped and all but it wasn't like he was proven innocent.
But there's too much about it we don't know. Which i assume they're looking into and maybe something we don't know will come to light. But for me its a no for now.
