Andy Dalton puts it to rest

Yards don’t put points on the board.

the reason Dalton didn’t need to throw for yardage, is because Dallas controlled the tempo the whole time and ran the ball and Dalton actually LED the offense and made the right decisions, which is why we actually scored in the red zone and got the matchups he wanted to keep the drives alive. That pace didn’t turn everything into this frantic, chaotic nonsense.

We didn’t get down by thirty and the opposing defenses got to relax or go soft, like Jerry said, to burn time off the clock. Dalton didn’t need to pad stats. He led the offense like he was supposed to.The Vikings defense had to play a FULL FORTY MINUTES. And to bat, they had a running back that controls the clock as much as we do, when we use him.

I don't think anyone is claiming that Dalton is the future of the franchise. The point is that if a solid journeyman QB like Dalton can lead the team to the play offs then why pay another QB 40 million a season!? It just doesn't make any sense especially when that QB isn't a game changer like an Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson.
It's been 5 seasons and Prescott has never gotten paid 40 million. What's your excuse now?

I won't get into Dalton starting off with a much shorter field than Prescott did this season. The defense is clearly playing better.

This is the a very reasonable satement. I basically had the same discussion with ABQJr. last night.

The Question should be this, what posiiton do you want your best players.....How come only in Dallas is it a problem to have a franchise QB and build a team around them....I'm not saying just you but there are many on here who have argued against Dak until he proved them wrong on every thing they wanted.....now its the money...why is that because its the only argument that Dak can't..Again its a team sport the GM has to build a team..most succesful GM's dont start that by saying "I'm going save money at the QB postion" if I'm wrong please show me the the winning teams letting Franchise QB's walk in the last 10 years....I'll wait. If your saying Dak isn't a franchise QB again please show me your facts that back that up..mind you wins are a team stat so be prepared to prove me wrong on that....

And Dak-mafia can’t even scapegoat the two guys they love to for their hero..

Cooper and Zeke were money when Andy led the offense... Cooper was clutch ON THE ROAD with the QB that actually put the ball where it was supposed to.

Dak's garbage time stats are nice and all but they don't mean anything really.

Again.. He's better than Dalton.

But neither guy is the difference between winning and losing a game. They depend on those around them.
that is true of every qb to ever play in the nfl.

I'll take 200 over 400 every single time, if the result means a W and not an L.

I've seen stats posted around that show the more yards you have usually the worse your team is doing.

That's why we see guys like Winston last year and Burrow this year have such high passing yards.

Passing yards is an awful way to measure a QB's success because it can be inflated by just simply having more volume.

Dak.. He had a crazy amount of attempts against some of the worst pass defenses in the league and it had his homers doing cart wheels while we were taking L's.

The thought is if we only had a defense but we've seen Dak in 2019 plenty of times when the defense played well but if the opponent scored 14 the Cowboys offense was sure to score 13.

The only thing i'm sure of with Dak is he is a great leader with great intangibles but if we aren't playing a bad team he can not be relied on to put points up and get W's.

I can't believe fans who watch the game don't understand that but there is an entire generation of people who grew up watching ESPN and look at the box score and go by whatever the box score tells them and that defines the player.

Real football is not Fantasy Football.

Dak has been top three in dropped INTs by QBs for the last couple of years. It’s his tendency.. every QB gets away with it once in awhile. Every QB throws behind their receivers once in awhile. Dak on the other hand is among the kings of this trait.

I also didn’t see Cooper disappearing on the road with Dalton as QB.. in fact, we all saw just how clutch he was in the fourth..
spin spin spin sppppiiinnn spin spin...sppppiiinnn spppppiiinnn spin spin...

you know his QB rating in 4:20 games, in october in the 3rd quarter, between the 12:23 and 5:38 mark in west coast games against AFC team since 2016 is only 72.4....can you believe it!!!

I disagree. Some QB's elevate those around them. Others aren't capable.

There is levels to this. Not all QB's are the same. The problem is when you pay the 3rd and 4th tier QB's like they are capable of carrying a team.

We played a pretty bad defense yesterday, thats not a knock on Dalton, thats just a fact. Good on Dalton for playing a good game and winning, that is his job and he did it. In no universe does that show some template of how you build a team....again no winning Franchise looks to go cheap at QB and build a team..they are forced into it while PRAYING TO GOD they find a franchise QB to pay money to and build a team around....we have one of the only fan base that literally hates the starting QB no matter how ridiculous the GM builds the team...again this is not a good team, we played well against another not good team and won. it couldve easily gone the other way and this Thursday Dalton will be under pressure and hopefully this game gave him some confidence but it could be ugly.

Look at what happens when the offense runs the ball and controls the clock and how it impacts the defense..
When the offense is able to run effectively on first downs...we had 12 first down runs...and averaged 6.75....two big runs...I am going to take those out... we still averaged 4.8......

when you run effectively on first downs and have about 5 yards to go on 2nd downs....you can do a whole lot to a defense.....

lmao, let's bring up that awesome onside kick for the win. yep legendary. and the other one, he gets no credit for either, if you don't finish the game you don't get a W. sheesh

technically super stats prescott with a big goose egg.

Very similar to the zeke haters who say he's not the champ because "he has so many more carries"?
