No QB is winning a SB with a defense that was the worst defense in the history of the NFL. Thats what we were at the time of Dak's injuiry. Its an inconvenient truth.

So you agree we need to fix the defense and OL and your plan to do this is blow a bigger hole in our lineup by letting Dak walk and using valuable resources to try and replace him AND somehow fix the defense and O Line.

Whats your plan? Where are we getting a better QB than "dak mediocrity"? How are we fixing this?

the thing is. This other poster argues it is “easier than ever” to find good QB play in the NFL and thinks it’s relatively easy to find a QB as good as Dak.

So you have to realize that’s what he thinks when asking him questions like that.

This dude trying to convince fans DAK 100% need to be paid. Lmao. Don’t know what’s worse his take or his years on Dallas.
He’s absolutely right. Quit the Madden game and watch the games for once.

Well i'm going to replace Dak with a cheaper option. I'm not just blowing a huge hole in it and leaving Andy Dalton or Garrett Gilbert back there.

I'm getting a cheaper QB / possibly better , and using the rest of my resources on defense including all the money saved.
Well if a plan is as simple as saying we are going to go with a cheaper option then lets use this same strategy across the board...
Come on man. Thats not a plan.
At least give an example. RG3? Chase Daniel? Capable QB's are not going to save you enough money to matter.

Hey lets fix our defense the same way. We can just go get cheaper options across the board.

Didn't your mama teach you that "you get what you pay for?" Getting a cheaper QB does not usually work out to a better QB. Look at the first round pick QBs taken since Dak came into the league.. Goff, Wentz, Lynch, Watson, Mahomes, Trubisky, Darnold, Rosen, Burrow, Herbert, Murray, Mayfield, Tagovailoa.. The only one definitively better than Dak is Mahomes.. but he plays for one of the two or three smartest offensive minds in the game. Watson is about equal.. Goff and Wentz both have their teams suffering buyer's remorse, Trubisky will probably be cut at the end of this year. Mayfield is told to hand the ball off and get the hell out of the way. Lynch and Rosen are out of football I believe and Darnold may join them soon. Obviously the jury is out on the rooks this year and Murray. So in the past 5 drafts there has been 13? first round QBs taken and 2 of them are on Dak's level or better. So less than a one in six chance. And oh yeah.. the front office we are repeatedly reminded is clueless is going to magically become geniuses if they move on from Dak? Talk about stretching..

I'm more sold that QB contracts are hurting teams chances at Superbowls than I am worried about not drafting a good player.

I'd rather be bad then be mediocre and signing Dak and fixing a team that has their Superbowl trajectory pointing down is a 1 way ticket to being stuck in the middle.

Yeah when I did the research I found that there has only been 5 or 6 teams in the Super Bowl era who have won the championship surrendering more than 20 points a game on defense. And there has NEVER been one giving up more than 30. For people to continue to proclaim that Dak has any hand in why this team wasn't a contender this season is ludicrous. The QB has not been born who can overcome a 35 ppg defense.

Apart from the usual suspects nobody is blaming Dak for this season and of course you're correct to focus on the defense.

However, our O-Line is injury prone and needs cover, the D-Line needs 2 DT's, 2 LB's, 2 Safeties and next season we're going to have 5 players on the offense being paid top 5 in their position in the NFL, whilst having just 1 on the defensive side of the ball.

Too many weaknesses and too far away for us to putting our faith in a highly paid QB.

....and you've just mentioned the lack of success for teams conceding over 25pts. Put the QB money on the defense....we are already overpaying on the offense as it is. It shouldnt take a Mahomes (or even a Dak) to succeed with our offensive tools.

Yeah except we are overpaying Lawrence, Jaylen Smith, Tyrone Crawford among others on defense......you're overpaying that whole defense based on how they've played.....

Its funny though... we are overpaying the offense but you want to use our 1st rounder not on defense....no....on OFFENSE of all things lol.

There is no denying it, the offense and team are not the same without Prescott.

Now, whether you think a different QB would be better is open to discussion because this isn't a case like Wentz has built for himself.

I cannot think of a better application for the saying "the grass is always greener" than to the QB in the Dallas situation.

Not having a franchise qb just puts us farther away from the goal. I wouldn't consider it good business to forsake a needed strength based upon a weakness in another area. Not in the nfl or any other business for that matter.

Dak is not close to a 28 year old Brady. Be careful you starting to sound like the Romosexuals when they try to compare Romo to Peyton Manning and Bret Farve. Dak is in the lane of Goff, Stafford, Cousins and Wentz. I would not have paid them their contracts.
You sound like you don't even understand your argument. We're talking about today, not 15 years ago. The harder you try to be right, the more you're slip sliding away.

Dak's price tag wouldn't have gone down if he were healthy and the team overall was still struggling. His price would have probably gone up because "he's all they have".

The only scenario where Daks price would have gone down would have been if he absolutely stunk. Even then, his agent would have said it was a fluke. In short, Dak's price wasn't likely going down no matter what happened.

Dak will be paid.

No, I don’t understand you. My argument is Dak is a good quarterback. You don’t pay 35+ for a good quarterback. Especially when the Cowboys are a bad team. If you get a top 5 pick you draft a quarterback and begin the rebuild. Makes no sense. Especially when you see the Atlanta Falcons who paid a fortune for a good not great quarterback. They seem to be be always 6-10 or 8-8.

He wouldn't be spewing such tripe if he had to pay some of that money out of his bank account. It's real easy to spend someone else's money!

Not around here. There are many fans who don't want to spend any of Jerry's, complaining about every contract unless it's a bargain deal that usually comes at a price as far as what kind of player you're getting.

Perhaps not.. but if I have one of those guys I am not walking away from him for the "maybe" the front office will pick the right guys on defense as well as to find a QB to play at a level that gives us a chance to capitalize on all the other transcendent talent that is going to magically show up the minute we get rid of Dak.
