If this was my business, or my investment I would understand. I just like sitting on my recliner and watching us win?
I understand that. And I don't criticize anybody for cheering wins. The biggest whiner around here is Rockport. He's constantly crying

But 2020 is over. And the best chance to win in 2021 is to not only have a top 5 pick over the #20 pick, but to have a high #2 over a much lower #2, a high #3 over a much lower #3, etc.

The opportunity to get better players means you have a better chance to win more games in 2021. Simple as that.

Of course, with Jerry and Stephen drafting, you end up with Taco Charlton over TJ Watt. But that's a different conversation.

If you've ever strapped it on, you would not keep like that. ALL games are important!

Would you play all your stars and starters in the final game of the season if your team was 4-11?

I would imagine playing them a couple of series at most, but if they're out there and they suffer a significant injury in a meaningless game, that would look awful. Plus you're putting that player and the team in a tough spot for the next season already.

Having a better draft position is much more valuable than an extra meaningless win in the long term for the franchise.

I just don't get it. Why would anyone root for a loss???? Yeah, yeah, higher draft pick, but that's not a guarantee. How can anyone watch their team and hope that they lose????
Everyone is a Sun Tzu here, my man.
Easy as that.
Regular Napoleons up in this shizznice.

I respect their arrogance and perceived foresight.

We still have the #4 pick so take that big fat foot out of your mouth.

You and I don't always agree...but this...is a FUNDAMENTAL agreement and philosophy in life.

I will ALWAYS strive for the win in everything I do....and I expect my team to do the same. Down to the last second of every game and last second of every season and last second of every day...I expect the best ...for the win.

It's like if you can;t reach your sales goal for the week, month, year.....you just give up so they lower it for next year? A recipe for unemployment. Not to mention your pathetic principles.

What about when the marines lowered the door to exit the landing craft approaching omaha beach? An impossible unwinnable scenario. Let's "tank".

I think it's another internet development. Some idiot sees something they read and thinks that is a cool thing. JOIN the so in the know KOOL KIDS KLUB!

Back in the day we never saw such a thing. And us who were there...will never see or understand such a thing. You play to win all the way to the end. Losing for Draft pick position is not winning. It's a fairy dust wish.

You have a loser mentality. We get it. You also root for Dak to fail so you can say you were right.

What the hell are you talking about. When have I ever rooted for Dak to fail?

And you’re right. You’re the real
Winner. Being so happy your team beat one of the worst teams in the league en route to a historically bad season. What a winner mentality being happy with mediocrity.

You probably get more help at #4 than at #20. Or at #36 than at #52. And on down you go.

This team needs a lot of help. And the best chance to get the help the team needs is to draft higher. It's very, very easy.

There is no tanking. Players and coaches don't tank. I just want the 2021 Cowboys to be the very best they can be. And that is drafting high instead of drafting low. I will leave the GM out of the discussion.

I knew the Commanders would beat the 40-whiners, which is why I picked them to win on the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Group League.

I hoped the Eagles would lose (and expected them to), but sadly, they won.

Both the Commanders and Eagles winning pretty much cemented the Cowboys not having any chance to make the playoffs since they would have to win the division in order to.

Here is the remaining schedule for the NFC East Division:

20201213-174215.jpg

It's pretty much a done deal. The Commanders are going to win the division and make the playoffs. We are not.

The only thing winning today did was screw our draft picking position from #3 down to at least now at #6 or #7 spot.

Today's win pretty much screwed several opportunities we could have had in next year's draft:

A) Could have used that #3 overall pick to draft once-in-a-generation monster O-Tackle Penei Sewell. Instead, we will be forced to keep overpaying for an old and oft-injured Tyron Smith.

B) Could have used that #3 overall pick to trade down a few spots to around #6 - #8 spot while picking up an extra early 2 or early 3rd and 4th round picks to better help shore up our whole Defense and Oline. Instead, we will be forced to draft 1 player at best around #7 or #8 spot AND HOPE someone worth that spot gets drafted.

C) As someone previously mentioned, by winning today, the Cowboys guaranteed to lose spots in each round for next year's draft. I don't know about you, but I would better draft super early in each round than later. The best talent in each round is mostly in the Top 5 picks of each round, not after. Sucks seeing much better talent and game changing players get picked before us every single year ONLY BECAUSE WE WANTED TO WIN AN EXTRA MEANINGLESS GAME OR TWO TO SAVE FACE AND PRIDE! Well, you had all darn season to win games when it mattered, but you lost over and over while sharting the bed. You made your bed, ............ lie in it.

BUSINESS 101 Tip: When the season is lost, as much as it hurts to lose, it is better to lose out in order to better secure a much better draft position IN EACH ROUND, than later.

Smart owners make the hard but smart decisions. Too proud sore losers make bad ones.

It is what it is in Big D. Have fun drafting later in each round while seeing much better talent taken before you just because you wanted to win a meaningless game or two just to save pride & face. Well, where was that pride and face saving 3/4 of the way through the season when it truly mattered and you still had a chance at the division title and playoffs? Too late now. You just made things worse for yourself by winning a meaningless game or two. You lost the season, lost making the playoffs, now you've lost the opportunity to draft the best talent available in each round of the draft as well.

I would always play for a win. And, yes, I've coached a couple of meaningless games, but I coached to win. I would never give my players any less and I wouldn't expect them to give me any less.

If true, then there is no hope next year either. This team is losing

But I don't believe that. With a good draft and a healthier roster, this team can be much better next year.

Losing games in a lost season maximizes opportunities for next year when everybody starts 0-0.

Honestly as bad as this year has been, it’s no ones right to call out anyone’s fandom because of how they choose to perceive the game today.

I choose to support any cowboys fan and whether they want a win or a loss for draft position is their call

Exactly. More than one way to skin a cat. It’s what is wrong with the entire world today. Most people only believe their way is the only way and everyone who disagrees is flat out wrong. No tolerance for any difference whatsoever.
