If the Cowboys and Washington Football Team end up tied, WFT ends up the division winner since the beat us during both matches, thus winning the tie breaker 1st rule.

That's not how it wotks in a 3-way tie.

However, the tie breakers in that situation also do not favor Dallas.

If the Cowboys, Giants, and Commanders end in a 3 way tie a different set of tie breakers are used. Washington beating us twice does not automatically eliminate us. But I don't know if Dallas would win that 3 way tie.

These are the first 3 tie breakers in a 3 way tie.

1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs)
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games

I did a playoff simulator.

Easy way is they win division if they win out and Washington goes at best 1-1 in the next two games. Eagles can win division if they have the same wins as any first place team.

We all know Cowboys scenario.

Giants need to tie with any team for first place to win division.

I did the 3 way tie scenarios and Giants got both tiebreakers at 6-10 and 7-9.

I don't understand how you can say that they arent playing good...they are on a 4 game win streak...and the Steelers are anything but a bad team.

Also - the eagles are going to have zero to play for in week 17 even if the wft were to lose the next two, there is very little doubt they wouldnt destory one of the worst teams in the nfl.

Why would the Eagles have nothing to play for?
They could go into week 17 at 5-9-1 and potentially finish 6-9-1.

If Dallas wins the next 2, and Washingon loses the next two, they'd be at 6-9. If they both lost in week 17, they'd be 6-10, worse than the Eagles. If the Giants lose the next 2 before Dallas, that makes Philly the division champ, even with a loss to Dallas.

Exactly my point whether a two way tie or three way tie. Cowboys end up losing simply by losing the tie with at least 1 team. Season finished. Best to lose out and secure as high as possible draft spot in each round.

Neither is going to happen. Some seem to have it in their minds after we beat Cincy that Dallas might can win out, but this team was still not very good in that game. The same problems that existed before we played a team worse than us still were apparent.

one loss by us or one win by washington and our fate is sealed...division win ain't happening. come to grips with it.

I'm hoping Washington gets it over with this week. That way we might see some of our backups get some experience. As long as we're not eliminated, the coaches are going to stick with the players they feel gives them the best chance to win out. Once we're eliminated, then wanting to win doesn't change, but you want to do it while letting the younger players play.

Yea, no worries. If Washington wins another game we're effectively eliminated. We'd have to hope for a three-way tie to get past the first two-team tie breaker (getting swept), and we'd lose the three-way tie breaker anyway.
