The only season I recall Jerry not being optimistic going into a season was 2016. So, of course, that was one of our better seasons.

Imagine believing that. You literally have one of the worst defenses ever assembled but this half a team is one of our best.
Imagine bragging about "likes" like a middle schooler.

Relative to the talent in the rest of the league, this was one of the best teams he's ever had. You can't compare them to the 90s teams, because of the salary cap. The defense was built to play with a lead and with a strong offense - see the Bengals and 9ers games. If healthy, this roster was the best in the NFC.

Stephen thought this team was amazing too. But what they are seeing is the offense. No way they think this defense is talented and deep. Dlaw, Gallimore, Gregory, and Wilson are probably our best players.

Gallimore sure seems to be steeping up imo. Wasnt that him that blew up the running play and goobles up that running back. We dont normally see running plays blown up like that, unless that role is revered

TBH, I thought the team was going to be pretty good. In hindsight, I should have seen the flaws but I overestimated players like McCoy and Poe and Griffen. I also didn't realize just how terrible the coaching staff is. I used to be a Zeke fan and I was kind of in denial about his decline too.

Had the team stayed totally healthy, I'm not sure they would have won 10 games.

The cherry on top is that after being one of the worst teams in football the majority of the year we go on to screw up our top 3 draft pick at the end of this horrible season.

If not for the Jets we would be the most stupid team in the NFL.
You make it sound like the season's not a race to the Super Bowl, but a race to 0-16

Before the season started, I thought we had the makings of a very good team. Injuries early derailed the season. Lost Frederick, Smith, and Collins early. Lost LVE and Dak early. Lost Brown and Awuzie for long stretches. Lost McCoy before the season, Hill early.

Missed on Poe, Ha Ha, and Worley.

Always scrambling to put out fires. Couldn’t develop any continuity.

You’d think after a couple decades fans would have caught on.

I blame the fans after all of these years for continuing to provide #1 in revenue and popularity despite the results. We are sending Jethro the wrong message.
That doesn't matter as there is guaranteed NFL $$ and fans are going to go to games, what fans need to do is, stop buying merchandise and come with bags on their heads and signs that say "JERRY MUST GO: and do not buy his food or drink until the team gets into a championship game at least, embarrassment is all Jerry will understand, humiliate him weekly and on TV and things will change.

We're 1 of 5 teams with new coaching. We were completely overhauled. There are very few fans who still wanted Garrett and Marinelli. Then, COVID..........Pretty tough to succeed. Thing is we're improving.

I still think this was a great team. I knew we'd get off to a slow start with the coaching changes and no offseason. But I assumed we'd get hot mid season and finish 11-5 or 10-6. But this team was derailed by injuries and bad actors. I think with a proper offseason and fewer injuries this team would be very competitive.

Have to admit.
Preseason, looking at the entire roster before any injuries or disappointments, I thought that (on paper) this was a fairly talented team compared to what we've had lately.

It's all relative though. Better still might have been all that great.

I will say this; early in the year, our defensive coordinator did us no favors. But everyone shares the blame.

If we go back a look at threads after Griffen was signed, many of us thought this team was read, not just for the playoff but a deep postseason run. So Jerry is not saying anything many fans/media weren't saying also in August.

Looking back, it's strange how a run of turnovers killed us the first 3-4 games ( mostly by Dak and Zeke ).

Really? How long has it been since the Detroit Lions won a playoff game? Cleveland Browns ring a bell? From 1-15 to 0-16, and following the no. 1 draft spot two years in a row, it's been 3 years and they're just now starting to look respectable (win against the Cowboys excluded). Jets haven't been to the SB but once, 51 years ago. Jags haven't had more than 6 wins in the last 9 years, but once.

It could be worse....

It shows Jerry's delusions. I am not sure anyone is exaggerating that reality. Jerry has always overvalued the talent on the team. So for him to say this is just par for the course with him.
It’s like little league parents. They can’t believe their son is not the next great superstar because it’s their kid. That’s Jerry in a nutshell. If they’re his players, they must be good.

If he truly thought this team was that talented, that's a bigger problem than the constant spinning he does. It's one thing to sell the snake oil; it's something else to actually believe it will grow hair and freshen the breath.

That isn't an assessment and realization of the talent; that's a pat on his own back and the worse part for some that hold out hope that he gets it, no, he never will. He's going to do it his way because that's the only way he knows. He's the textbook turd polisher.

Well congratulations to you guys for being as clueless as Jerry.
