Oh I can see Ol Jerruh doing what Schneider did with Cousins. LOL.
Just a perpetual fustercluck of mediocrity and expensive tags.
Lol well let’s hope next year is his last playing tag because it’s 46 and 55M after that I believe

Dont want to hear any whining about why didn't we make this trade or by the time our pick rolled around there wasn't any great options.

Get your feel good now and hope for the best. The off-season won't be n nearly as much fun as it could have been.

It was the right move.

They were bad enough to get Chase Young and missing on Haskins is no big deal.

Washington is trending up.

The Jags fans were cheering when the Bears were scoring TDs today in their own stadium. That’s got to hurt but hey they clinched the #1 pick for April’s draft.

That sound you hear is Trevor Lawrence unpacking his bags in his dorm room.

The last 4 wins are over teams with a combined record of 20-38. The only thing these wins prove is that they can beat crap teams but still can’t compete with good teams.

No fan base is more delusional and more content with mediocrity than Cowboys fans.[/QUOTE

You sound like a fool. The Cowboys play their schedule, just like everyone else. It's not about mediocrity, some fans like to see their team win, no matter by how much, or who the opponent. You sound delusional.

I don’t call beating 3 teams with a losing record steadily improving. This is really no surprise, we had one of the easiest schedules in the league and even about 6-8 weeks ago we had the easiest schedule by far compared to the other teams in this historically bad division.

Regardless, my Super Bowl bet is still alive!
You don't have the easiest schedule when you have the worst defense. Not just a bad defense but historically bad. As bad as those other teams were, the Cowboys were pretty much worse.

Our OT's were actually the backups to the backups. The same goes to the DT's. This team was 3-9. They were humiliated twice by Washington, once on Thanksgiving. The team that the Cowboys beat today beat them earlier in the season.

The O-line today....I'm not saying they dominated by any means but they held their own.

I'm not looking at a Super Bowl but even one playoff victory should exonnerate a team that started out decimated with injury.

The Cowboys have won 3 straight and have destroyed their draft pick..

Might as well hope for the best at this point. Dalton dimes was just too good to not get similar results to what we were getting before for us to ever just fall off.

Hopefully we beat NYG next week and somehow the Eagles decide to show up against Washington..

I don’t see this team doing anything in the post season.. I think we hurt our future teams quite a bit by not having that pic.

But what’s done is done..

The worst possible outcome is to have won 4 games in a row and lose our premium pick and not make the playoffs.
Love your posts. Shut up. ; )

Imagine Dalton dimes if he had a healthy roster around him..

There would be little to no drop off in terms of results for a fraction of the cost.

What was the right move? To give Cousins endless amounts of tags and guaranteed money instead of getting off the pot or letting him walk then trading for Alex Smith then drafting a complete bust in Haskins?
Is there a freaking “right move” in there? LOL

We lost to better teams. We had nothing on the dline in 2014. The offense was dominant, but the dline was just bad. 2016 was a game lost by coaching.

But at least both were games.

If we make a game of a playoff berth, even if we lose, that's fine. But my scenario was a "curb stomping", which is a realistic possibility against a good team.

Seattle made it one year with a 7-9, but they won their first playoff game. I doubt we can match that. We're probably going to take over for worst playoff team ever, even if we don't get curb stomped.
We weren’t the 1-seed in 2014. That’s why we were on the road. We were either the 3rd or 4th seed. We were the 1-seed in 2007 and lost to the 6-seed Giants.

I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion we get a “curb stomping”. Maybe it happens, but I’ll take an opportunity to enjoy an upset.

Here’s the problem. Neither QB in DAL is a franchise QB. They are JAG, Kirk Cousins level serviceable QBs, each with slightly different traits. And these endless discussions, rants and meaningless comparisons are just that. Meaningless. Until they get a franchise QB. It’s that simple.

The Giants dline in 2007 was historical. They ran through the best QBs in the league, through Romo, Favre, and the previously undefeated Brady. No shame in losing to them. And we were Crayton pulling up on the 2nd to the last play away from winning. That's how close it was.

Getting curb stomped this time isn't a foregone conclusion, but it's fairly likely. We can't stop the run, and our oline can't stop a good pass rush. That's a combination for a good old fashioned curb stomping.

I understand why some people want to tank but I just can’t pull for the Cowboys to lose.

I mean, if Dallas loses I can certainly look at the bright side and be glad that it increases the draft pick, but I still think what is best for the team is what is happening at the end of this season. What it means for the team to be playing so much better as the season goes on is much better for the franchise than just getting a higher pick.

These last few weeks shows that McCarthy has the team’s attention, that he has them headed in the right direction and that what he’s doing with the team is starting to take hold and bear fruit. That is worth more than picking 10 picks sooner. The players that will be here next year will have more confidence in the coaches and schemes, and will be going into the offseason in a way, way different frame of mind than if they would have continued to lose out.

We’ve all seen it in all the years that we’ve been watching the NFL. There have been teams with new coaches that have started out poorly and then as the year goes on, the players start to get what the new staff wants and begin to understand how to run the new schemes. They finish on a roll and no matter if they make the playoffs or not, fans can just tell that the team is becoming a much better team and that things look up for the team. Miami did it last year.

When it happens that way, the team almost always come back and have much better seasons the next year. The players know it and respond to it.

The way Dallas is ending this season means an awful lot when thinking about where the coaching staff is taking the team. It is about the best news we could get that Dallas has cut their mistakes, started getting some turnovers, kept their penalties and turnovers low and frankly, look like an entire new team. What that means going forward is really good news for the Cowboys.

Besides, unless you’re talking about a player like Lawrence (that will go first overall), picking at 8 isn’t that much different than, say, 16.

Think about this: other than the first round pick... the Super Bowl winning team chooses one pick ahead of the worst team for the rest of the draft. The super bowl winner picks at 32 and the worst team picks at 33. Then 64 and 65, and so on.

Higher picks are an advantage but not that much of one. Becoming a better team at the end of this year will mean much more to the Dallas Cowboys.

My response directly contradicts your opinion and borrows from several other previous Zone posters shared ideas regarding to tank or not.

I see these as empty wins. I also see an extreme roster turnover especially with regard to defensive personnel.

Combine that with a new DC(and maybe even OC too) and most likely new defensive position coaches and you basically get winning for the here and now but whose ultimate outcome will not end in a SB win.

So with all this new found temporary improvement I am just wondering how winnng one game at a time now benefits this team next year when half of the players here now and coaching staff will not be here next year?

Or is this temporary feel good with players and coaches that wont be here more beneficial than higher picks in each round?

Sorry, I totally disagree.

Just my opinion.

I wonder if these folks would trade down in each round of the draft 10 spots for a kicker on a 1 year contract that got them from 4-12 to 7-9.
