What happens to the QB position now?

dont know but rumor has it the way so many rookies are playing well much quicker then before because teams started adapting their offenses to the QB instead of trying to force them to be in pro style base offense is going to re-adjust the qb market because many vet qbs will be let go and flood the market with cheaper VET QBS..it happened with the rookie qbs deals long time ago and will happen again

soon owners will give the very select elute qbs that kind of money , the market is so out of control most are making double some f the best players on the field like Wrs, DBS, and Lbs and they have taken notice and want more of the cap ..im sorry but as good as dak is , hes not in the select few elite group..35 is already too much IMHO but ill let jerry decide and rol with it...

i wont be upset either way as QBs are demanding far more then their worth to most teams..

how did the Texans fair with Watsons new deal? he was healthy all year and they have what the same or worse record then us we played with 4 Qbs, a bad defense, and new coaching staff.
I hear ya, however nobody can convince me Daks not top 15 in the league period. Hes young the team follows him and plays hard for him, but a trouble maker, and hes a tough sob. I'd rather pay him 35 than 20 to dalton or 7 to an unknown rookie that's not a top 3 pick

those are not the only names in town available or the cost associated with whomever we bring in,,

there are options..

Happy New Year Zoners. This season is ending on a high but low note for me. Week 17 will have some excitement but winning 3 in a row really takes Dallas out of contention to draft a top QB. Worst case scenario seems likely - Dallas and Washington both win. So the draft pick ends up in the 9-12 area, I guess. Definitely no QB there. No Surtain. No Parsons. Oh well. Biggest question is the QB. Seems like the choices are:

1. Tag Dak for 2021 and let him play out that contract

2. Trade Dak knowing the value is down given the injury and ATL likely grabs Wilson

3. Sign Dak LT - there will be no bargain there

If you go with #2 is Dalton your guy?

Nothing has changed only confirmed.

If not Dak then who is our long term guy? I’d rather go with the known entity so I’d try and sign Dak long term. If we can’t come to terms then tag him and shop him.

way early lots of changes post season cuts etc all coming..be patient..

this will all work itself out..
Lol I get what your saying, butbunless there is a surprise cut like aaron Rodgers or something I dont see it

im talking guys like Stafford, rivers ,and the like..there will be surprise cuts and trades all over..Daks not Rogers, so lets keep it real..last year with healthy team and dak we went 8-8

this year dak starts 1-3 i know its not all his fault but he didnt have 35-40million dollar effect on this teem

hes not the only qb that can play,.jeez open your mind, the starting O even without Dak can be great with player like dalton..we may end up 7-9 one game worse with our entire OL hurt and missing dak and many other defenders.,

reality check

not saying get rid of dak but his cost maybe too steep so we may be forced to look at other options..dalton for year while we groom another guy//

None of the trophies in the background have his stats on them.....but the smile was great....and not a peep from the board when it happened.

Made the mistake once why would you do again.

1) Sign Dalton cheap for two years.
2) Let Dak walk.
3) Draft and groom a promising young QB.

I get what your saying but in all accounts. I'm NOT paying a guy 33 plus years old. Dak isnt the best I know but he sure isnt the worse. Those names you mentioned havent really done much fornthe teams and some have been better than Dallas, so what will they do is all I'm saying. I'm not trying to get old the key is staying young whilst staying good and relevant

well you are making my point what do you pay "not the best" and just a little better then the other..thats the quandary here..

Daks wantign the best money if he come to the bargaining table with little more flexibility this year i can see deal getting done, if he come hard and wants even more and not willing to do team friendly deal, i say Non exclusive tag and lets her offers, not saying get rid if him but lest see the reality of the true "Dak market"

if we got an offer for 2 firsts how can you not take that deal?

i doubt this happens but we have to entertain all possibilities including no big enough offers to dak on the NETAG and he holds out, then what? we may need andy Dalton or someone similar just in case..

1) Sign Dalton cheap for two years.
2) Let Dak walk.
3) Draft and groom a promising young QB.

1). Dalton will be UFA. Not cheap.
2). Dak won’t walk. They will tag him for many $$$$$$$
3). Possible. But OL needs help. RT needs upgrade.

Sign Dak to a 4 year deal.
Sign Garrett Gilbert as backup QB.
Sign UDFA QB to compete with the Nucci.
Get a future comp pick for Dalton.

Cowboys give Dak everything his heart desires.

i think they could tag him again.

They will want to see how the injury heals. They will know by July if he is ready.

a 3-4 year deal is possible. (The out would be in year 3 or 4. The contract could be longer.)

Dak is half way through his career as a starter. It goes quick. Like life.

….then we are going in rebuilding mode....whether we want to realize or accept.
I don't think Jerry will ever admit that (rebuilding) and I believe Dak is getting a big deal next season and history will repeat, it is the big splash Jerry loves, get ready for the Super Bowl BS line and BS of the greatness of Dak from him. Its not the player it's the damage that he does to the team with his $$$ number vs his worth. The new status quo of the Dallas Cowboys is now mediocrity, that stink will be on this team for a few more years. Sorry 1 play off win in 5 years doesn't merit top $$$.

…..nor does the roller coaster and mediocrity since '95, and pre-Dak. JJ has this team half-full/half-empty all the time. His stubbornness and karma has stifled the on-field product, but the off-field dollars with worth has clouded him. We are a laughing stock when you see a Miami team, even a Cleveland team, or Colts, Titans team, and a couple more seasons from the WFT, on the ascending direction that are a player or two away to get them over the hump into contention, for a while. Look at the Bills.....got playmakers. And every time we think of next year.....we get what we're getting now. And every time we hit bottom.....we find a player to cast all the blame on.
