Why the extension?

What's the reasoning? Still have to let him go if he is offered a HC spot elsewhere.

He didnt even appear to be the frontrunner at Boise and somehow that becomes an extension here.

I dont see the advantage for the team to have done that regardless of performance.

If he lands the Cowboys HC job in 3 years, do you think he hires a young creative DC or an established vet?

One of the things I am looking forward to is a coach who doesn’t pick his staff based on nepotism.
The first question you ask is how do you plan to make our defense better. The answer should tell you all you need to know.

Im still not sold on the Kellen Moore experiment. Looking directly at such stats as having the 12th best offense is not always a true indication of success. There's so much more that goes into football or successful teams then one pure stat.

TOP plays a huge role into the success of a football team. KM has been ranked 18th and 29th which is terrible. We actually ranked higher then KC in 2019

Redzone efficiency. 16th and 29th which is horrible.

He also does not know how to utilize zeke to his best. Granted zeke has been trending down hill

This just shows the offense when healthy can score at will however that would all be fine and dandy if the defense wasn't a disgrace. We played our best football when we controlled TOP and let zeke control the flow of the game and wore down the opposing defense while keeping ours fresh and off the field. Zeke right now can not control the game anymore however if KM used Pollard and zeke to the full potential we could as many teams utilize split backs to far better success

1)More hasn’t yet realized his potential as OC
2)Our OL has been different virtually every game.
3)We’ve played 4 different QBs.
4)Zeke HAS declined!
5)Our D has been AWFUL!

IMHO, a little bit of each—“death by 1,000 cuts”!

I don't understand why so many hate the resigning. Many were asking for an innovative, modern OC and we now have that with Kellen Moore. This offense without their starting QB, TE and 3 high-end starters along the OL are still producing. Moore is the least of our problems, he's apart of the solution.

Innovative? He is terry with the run game and terrible against good defenses. But damn he can put up good passing stats once he us. Whine and defenses are playing soft.

Have you seen the wording of the contract? He hardly seems the sort to sign a deal and then renege. And as much as i like him as oc, not likely he's ready to be hc. Nice tax benefits too waiting to sign until 2021.

Look, if a guy can lose it's starting OTs and it's QB but finish mid-league in offensive stats than that is very, very impressive.
Keeping Kellen is a major and frankly unexpected win.

It's also a big time sign in favor of Dak because Kellen is his guy that he fought for.

It's like I've seen this play out before. Sigh.

I have nothing against the guy but the Jones’s hold onto coaches far too long because they don’t value it.

After Garrett I do not trust them to make timely decisions.

Seriously if McCarthy did something to get himself fired I could see them now just going to Kellen because he’s already under contract.

Jerry made KM an offer he could not refuse. Probably making close to HC money now. Jerry did this with JG while Wade Phillips was our HC.

Another genius move by our loser GM. Just like Jerry was the only person in the NFL that knew Garrett was a great head coach, now Jerry is the only person in the NFL that knows KM is a budding offensive genius and future head coach. Thanks, Jerry. Great move for another 25 losing years.

I was on the fence about Moore because I felt I was seeing too much Garrett and Linehan influence in him, but I'm feeling better about Moore staying based on the last few weeks. Yes, I know we've played against some bad teams, but we've also done it without Prescott and with an offensive line that's been in bad shape this season. I like seeing what Moore and McCarthy have done to adjust to the situation.

Now, I will say that I'm not completely off the fence because I believe having the No. 1 offense when we did was mostly built on beating bad teams/defenses while even with Dak last year, we didn't fare as well against good teams/defenses. I need to see McCarthy/Moore take this offense to the next level before I'll be sold on either.

In his first year as OC in Dallas Moore had the #1 rated offense in the league.

In his second year he had the team back there until massive injuries, including the starting QB hit the team. Even then he has them ranked in the top half of the NFL (12th I think), and that is with an entire OL that is out for the year (and starting 2 UDFA rookie tackles) and having lost even the backup QB for a few games.

He lost his starting QB, his all-pro LT, his top 10 RT, his all-pro RG, his all-pro center (to retirement), and the other OL have been in and out of the lineup.

With that, last week his offense put up over 500 yards and scored 37 points against a division rival.

The guy is doing one hell of a job with the offense and Dallas is lucky to have locked him up long term.

Get the injured guys back and give him a half-decent defense, and Dallas will win a lot of games.
Stop with the facts so people can whine about stuff they know nothing about!

Some people don't seem to be aware that even if Moore doesn't turn out to be as good as MOST analysts and such think he is, he doesn't count against the cap, and can be replaced any time, if necessary. I don't personally think it'll be necessary, because as you stated, he's been a very good OC

Congratulations to Kellen Moore and his family. A good get for the Cowboys and offers some stability in an offense that produces well when healthy (and players catch the ball, hit their blocking assignments, do their job, etc). Might the 3 year deal help influence Dak to sign a 4 year contract now?
GO COWBOYS! :flagwave:

Question is now does Kellen Moore's extension have an impact on whether or not Dak gets signed. I have not been impressed with some of Kellen's play calling and the only hope now is that he'll learn and improve in the areas that he has shortcomings in.

I think he already is, and I think having to call plays without Prescott and with a beat-up offensive line has forced it. With Prescott, I think some of the tendencies remained the same as last year (maybe with the idea that if it isn't broke, then don't try to fix it). However, there were some areas where we needed to grow the offense. I think we've been seeing some of that of late. The question is whether he'll fall back into "comfort" when Dak and the line return or continue to incorporate things that create offense.

Not saying all those things have worked, but at least he's trying rather than just always relying on outexecuting.
